Did I just get Viped Taxed? Brake Pads

Around 1.5 hours here to change out the pads and lightly scuff up all the rotors. I also always clean up the inside of my wheels every time I change the pads out. ..That's in my garage with a floor jack. I do have an air compressor. A garage lifting all 4 corners at once, with "trained...

    Winter Storage

Clean the car up, fill the gas tank (Stabil not needed), put about 45-50 pounds in the tires (carpet pads not needed for tires), battery tender on it if possible (or remove the battery if not), lay a piece of Visqueen / blue tarp or equivalent under it, get it good and hot before before parking...

    100k miles of Viper driving!

WAY TO GO:headbang: Not many will ever reach that many miles. I may possibly hit it by year end next year. I'm at 82,000 miles on the RT/10 since 4/2000 and 4500 miles on the ACR since 8/06 right now. We live with 5-6 month seasons here. We've averaged about 1650-1700 miles per every month of...

    Northern Michigan Wine Tour

We add our thanks to the above. 28 cars, a bunch of good people, some wine, food, and stories make for a good party. Rain had little effect on the overall good times. It was our 8th wine tour and it's a given we will be at many more. Glad to know everyone is home after a couple of mishaps with...

    Where to get this part?

Mine came from Zero Altitude Flight -- same piece. I'd check with Jon first. He might have a better price. Steve

Straw Poll - Best 1-Piece Rotors

I've only been on 4 different tracks (besides VOIs) and one 3 day school, but I always thought the cool down lap was a given seeing as when I've been checkered off at the start line, you do one more lap basically not touching the brakes at all. The only times anyone comes in without a cool down...

    10LB ROE for 2 years

I agree with Damn Yankee. Tune it yourself. In fact...install it yourself. It really isn't that hard to do....especially with Sean as a resource. I guess if you live in a very urban area where you can't get to the 'logging' road easily, tuning could be an issue, but otherwise anyone who is able...

    new pipes needed

All you really need to do is remove the mufflers and call it a day. Changing out the pipe on a GEN I will not change much for exhaust note. You could throw a couple of cheap glass packs on if you didn't want to go mufflerless. '94 RTs w/o mufflers sound quite good. Nice little rumble. Steve

    10LB ROE for 2 years

2.5 yrs -- self installed and tuned -- 27,000 miles on set up, 81,000 miles on car. No issues whatsoever. 2001 car -- installed by others in 2003....11,000 miles on set up. 4,000 miles since AFR retuned by me (initially tuned on dyno - was running way too rich). No issues there either. Steve

Straw Poll - Best 1-Piece Rotors

I don't get it? If they all crack if driven hard, why spend a bunch more money? :dunno: Steve

Straw Poll - Best 1-Piece Rotors

I had good luck with the stock rotors the car came with. 6 track sessions and 74,000 miles. I changed them this past spring. They were worn to the limits, but a little bluing once in a while after a track session was the only sign of excessive heat. I have Tom's 40mm calipers in the rear and run...

    Changed the oil...

You would be surprised how much oil would be left in there from only lifting the front. Looks like about 1.5 qts in yours. I usually put about 9.5 qts in on the change and then top it off the next day. I'm not sure I've ever got a full 10.5 in, but pretty close. You can't top synthetic off...

    VEC 2 communication error

Make sure the VEC is set to the right port on the computer. You can find that in the VEC program settings and computer device manager I think. If you are using a serial to USB port cable. You could try a different one. I had this issue last year with my new laptop which didn't have a serial...

Drilling out O2 sensors... Any precautions?

Remember it well. Nice leg work Tony! I tried the header wrap........at the Wizard's suggestion, It did cut the heater code lights by about half, but did not stop them all together. I ended up with quick fires, I still have the wrap on there though. The Wizard's ideas are always worth a try...

Drilling out O2 sensors... Any precautions?

After setting heater code lights for a long time (2001), and trying the 3rd tube Belanger approach when it came out (didn't work for me), I drilled my O2s per Sean Roe's advice. It worked for me for a long time. When I put the blower on in 2006, I bought new sensors and they were slotted instead...

    6th gear question

If you're only driving your car a little bit -- mostly in town, I guess that makes some sense. If you drive a lot, like us -- 85,000 Viper miles since 2000 -- then pounding the highway on long trips in 4th gear makes no sense at all. Even in local driving, it takes all of a couple seconds to...

    Random Tech GTS Muffler Delete

I’ve been away for several days Woodward Dream Cruising, but after reading this message decided to school up a little better on X / H pipes. First, I just Googled for a while. That was pretty much a toss up as to any gains from a H or X pipe. Some said each balanced the system better, but were...

    6th gear question

I did a little test with our car yesterday on our trip home from the Dream Cruise. I have an AFR meter in the car. I was able to run at 1000/1100 RPM in 6th gear and not lug or add unnecessary fuel. I was able to accelerate up small hills and my AFR was running mid 13s....pretty efficient for...

Ok. So now you've 3” choked down to 2.5” from the end of this assembly forward. What’s the purpose of that? Can’t see it from the street. Power gain? I doubt it. 4” tips…. 4” tips could easily be put on the stock 2.5” pipe. X pipe…no power adder here. I’ve always been told that Xs and Hs are...

    Im going to CAAP!!!!

Woodward Dream Cruise week. MCVO at the Coffee Beanery Thursday night, 14th. Stop by and say hi if you're in town then. Even if you can't make it Thursday...you need to check the Avenue out. It's probably full of cars right now. The website says past attendance has had 40,000 cars /1.5 million...

No, it was aluminized tubing, just like my entire exhaust has now been for the last 73,000 miles. Except for new mufflers, my system has never been touched since install in 4/01. I am well aware that SS exhausts are touted as the best, but I know of cases where under high heat (and warranty) it...
