    Viper Wallpaper

Here's another one courtesy of Mother Viper at this year's MCVO Wine Tour in Traverse City, MI. We were all just having a little fun as we exited one of the best eateries in the area :drive:

Looks like my exhaust is messing up my paint

I came across this stuff by chance about 7 yrs. ago at a car show. I asked a body shop/ $6 figure car builder guy, who had a couple of cars on show there, what he was using. He has restored and built cars for guys like Reggie White and been entrusted to restore cars that there were only a few...

Looks like my exhaust is messing up my paint

I think extending the tips 1/2-1" will take care of all..or much of the problem. I ran into the same thing a couple years ago when I changed out the mufflers after 30K on the Belanger header/exhaust set up.(no cats) .....Noticed staining I never had before..kind of a brownish glaze baked into...

    storage & flat spots

I've also been storing cars in the winter for over 20 years and have never had an issue with flat spots. No carpet underneath. No rolling back and forth. I usually fill to just below max sidewall. I have never had an out of round tire on start up in the spring. Steve

    MCVO Holiday Event December 8th.

If I could only figure out a reasonable way to get from Detroit to Lambeau field the next day for the Packers game (seats on the 50--12 rows up)....we would be there ;) Have fun Steve

    What oil in gen 1

It's definitely cold there, and a fair amount of lake effect snow. We are on the same parallel...250 miles east. Had you decided to pursue the position, I'm sure your knowledge, expertise, and experience would have been a valuable asset. Steve

    Winterizing in Arizona

While our cars are tucked away in the northland, I write this from Green Valley, AZ where it may not get past 76 or so today. We will put up with this type of weather for another 2 weeks between here and southern, Ca. It's a tough sled, but we'll make it through OK A quick weather check at...

Heat shields needed with coated headers?

Belanger headers. 70,000 miles with no heat shields. No problems. No excessive heat to any component I'm aware of. Plug wires are good for at least 20,000 miles (have gone 30K). No plug boots. Make sure you have the HiPo power steering cap mod above........or easily make one Steve

    What oil in gen 1

I'm not going to thrust and pary with Tom on oil formulation (plus I'm traveling and not plugged in all the time), but the Amsoil comment above is somewhat misleading Amsoil does not purchase finished product from another mfg and just label / sell them as AMSOIL They purchase base oils from...

What % of Vipers have over 10k miles on them?

That's a good question Tom. I can happily report that since May of this year we have driven 13,000 Viper miles and around 6,000 miles on other vehicles. Another good companion question would be how many of these miles being told of here have been put on by the current owner? All 75,000 miles...

    WB O2 Location

Good points. I have wondered the same thing myself about the dyno placement. I have some real life experience with potential air leaks.......or just to far downstream to get accurate readings.... The 01 car we bought last year had one of the early 5 pound Roes...the ones which couldn't be...

    WB O2 Location

I have a friend who self installed a 5 pound Roe on his 98 RT/10 in the winter of 2006. It's never been tuned. At the time of install, he put a bung in middle of the side sill area. He has no cats, but the bung is downstream from his race bullet muffler -- where the cat used to be. I think the...

    Supercharger: Roe or Paxton!!

I have almost 30,000 SC miles between 2 five pound Roe cars. I have 3.45s, hi lift roller rockers, and a light flywheel on the 00. Couldn't be happier.........no issues at all. The low end grunt also works great on the track. While the Paxton can be a DIY, there have been some horror stories...

    Wipers? Vipers don't need Wipers!

There is one sure way to keep from using the wipers -- keep it in the garage. If the top's only been on once -- and no wipers -- you've sure missed a lot of fun!! :drive: Steve

    Wipers? Vipers don't need Wipers!

We were there -- did the parade too. Have not seen heavier rain than that, but have been in equal downpours a few other times. I have done a couple sessions at Gingerman in rain and/or very wet cold conditions. Have autocrossed several times in steady cold rain. You'd be surprised how well the...

    Wipers? Vipers don't need Wipers!

77,000 miles over 7 years. Rain, sleet, snow.......we've used the wipers many more times than I could count......and that's with Rain-X on. Rain-X doesn't really work well at slower speeds. In sleet or snow, you want to keep the wipers going to prevent ice build up at the top and sides of the...

    Fall Cruise

Looks like a another great get together! Wish we could have been there. As we are limited by our ruralness (new word) and can't get to everything down there, we felt compelled do a simultaneous solo MCVO far north cruise for most of the day. We had great weather too! We headed south and east...

    ACR shock tool

After a lot of searching a year ago, I finally found a connection through Carl Haas Imports in Lincolnshire, IL. They handle Dynamic Suspension. They were trying to get me a generic tool until I finally talked to a guy who was familiar with the tool which was specially made for the Viper. He...

What is considered "high mileage" for a 2001

We have averaged over 1700 miles per month of use since mid April of 2000. I guess we don't qualify for any awards in the low miler category. The only advantage I can see to not piling miles on the most fun car one could own is to afford those of us who may wear one out (you know... 200K plus...

    Max HP with cast pistons

5 pound Roe twin screw -- 3.45 gears -- light flywheel -- 586 RWTQ down low -- PERFECT! Heat soak -- none I'm aware of. I thought centrifugal SCs were susceptible to heat soak as well? The nice thing about the Roe is you can do it yourself. Steve ......PS2s definitely help the hook up...

    Max HP with cast pistons

I have 20,000 miles, including some track time on my 5 pound Roe cast piston car. With the 1.7 roller rockers, I'm sure I'm close to those numbers, maybe a little more as our other 5 pounder has a 554 RWHP dyno sheet .......and the 00 car is quite a bit quicker to me. Zero issues -- 74,000 miles...

    IAT % Variance

For those who have been following this thread. I finally got a chance to get some cold runs in today at 30F. By the time I got to the closed course and did my 1st log, the IAT reading showed 39F for starters. This will be about the coldest we see on a nice fall or spring day. The results are...
