If I remember correctly, the airbag on/off switch is lighted and should be lighted when the switch is turned to on. Is that the light you are talking about?
Let's see if I remember correctly on this one. 1st and 2nd are on one fork, so are 3rd and 4th, and 5th and 6th. So if it was movement being off, it would only affect 5th and 6th. Since it's only affecting one gear, it's probably a synchro.
Expansion/contraction of contact pins? PCM degradation such that electronics no longer function at hot? Could be, but a good diagnosis of the complete system will reveal.
Inspect the connector pins and plug. Make sure that nothing is broken in the connector and that the pins are clean. If all looks well, inspect/test the wiring from connector to PCM. Could be anything from the sensor to the PCM.
If you do a search, you will find that in most cases, a check engine light can put your car in safe mode. This entails setting the A/F rich. I wouldn't worry about performance, I would worry about fixing the cause of the check engine light.
Re-seat the rear seal. Sometimes it gets knocked out of place when placing stuff in the trunk.
Some GTSs had a problem with the front windshield seal. New seal, problem solved. Not saying you have that problem, but a wet floor after a drive in the rain is one of the symptoms.
Hood mount assembly? What's that? The hood lifts at the right front but not at the front latch? Then you have a bigger issue than a mechanical adjustment can fix.
If you have movement at a hood front corner then it's because you have room to move at the latch. Either the latch has to move down...
I have had Great success with both methods. Both have their pros and cons. The vacuum method is fastest in terms of setup time and you waste less brake fluid.
