If you let the car sit for a few days and you still have to unplug the fuse, chances are the Manifold is NOT gas saturated as it will have dried up by then
I went back to Dexron III, shifts much better now. If you get NGR, its not harmful just something you may hear.

When they Modeled the Gen V they modeled it after the Gen II. Cant go wrong on either. I think you are fearing the Gen II more than you need to as far as repairs etc. Just make sure if you get a Gen II its a clean example.

Is it Agreed Value ? I am with Hagerty with Agreed Value and I am around $500 as well. I have found with Hagerty the older the car with agreed value its less money than a newer car for some reason.
So you should be able to sneak it out.. have heard people putting Radiators in with hood on (I would never do it because hood is easy to remove with a couple people)
Remove the bolts going to the hood only.
There is a company that makes / use to make a stiffener that goes underneath as well. Allot of people put there elbows down h a r d on the console when getting in and out of the car and that causes the damage most of the time.
