Judging from the way the regulators break, I'm not sure that would have a whole lot to do with it, but at the same time I agree it's better to lessen the stress when you can. I think a lot of people tend to agree that the installation process itself can be the initial failure point. You have...
To me at least if you are asking more than $60k that gets into gen 4 territory, as in I would start looking at gen 4s and see what I could find for similar or not much more. The gen 3 coupe is unique in that it's a one year only deal, but it's still a gen 3 in the long run. You might need to...
That's pretty cool! I'll have to remember that for the future. A lot of the tabs that have broken on my car are the ones that get the little clips attached to make it a press fit installation. The clips intentionally dig into the plastic so they don't pull off , but I think that's part of the...
What year do you have? That might change things a bit as the gen 3 design is different than the gen 4. For gen 3 I'm not sure anyone makes a drop in replacement element for the stock setup, but I could be wrong. Most tend to swap in the full K&N intake tube with its matching filters. I think...
Kind of sounds like a bad head gasket. That will pressurize the cooling system even at low temp. I remember back in college with our formula SAE car that it would blow liquid coolant out of the radiators non-stop, even when it wasn't that hot. Turned out the head gasket was bad so it didn't need...
I was probably the one talking about gluing in a repair piece. Looks like at least my driver side has broken again, but going to see about doing it again with a tougher material. I might also look into plastic welding it back together with some metal mesh. It's not pretty, but it seems to do a...
There are two rubber return lines to the reservoir, one from the fan module and one from the steering rack. I had a pump that was leaking from the shaft as well I think as I couldn't find any other wet point on the car higher than that. It seems to finally be dry after yet another pump...
A lot of 6.75" speakers have the 6.5" mounting holes, but the problem I have with them is they stick out from the door when you put the matching covers on. So they don't require any cutting to make fit, but they don't exactly "fit" either to me. I found a set of Kicker 6.5" speaker that fit...
Welcome to the group! That's a beautiful color and one of those you really almost have to see in person to fully appreciate. Glad you're getting it out and enjoying it!
Unfortunately I don't really know off the top of my head. The stock fittings are almost more like A/C "bump tube" fittings, but I never had much luck finding what they were exactly. I bought the JTS Venom Performance power steering line kit that replaces all the hoses and fittings with AN...
A power steering tester goes a long way in finding out where the issue is, but you might run into issues with fittings if you don't have the Viper specific one. The gauge tester thing itself is generic, but the adapters to use it on various system are what make them "unique". I bought one for...
If you can find someone around with a DRB III and the right adapter cable you can run some tests on the car. My mom's 94 was having some misfire issues and with the tool you can individually command each coil to fire to see if the problem is somewhere in the ignition system or somewhere else...
I think it was mentioned here already, but you'd want to be on the lookout for Jeeps and Mercedes of similar vintage (early-mid 2000s). Not sure what models specifically, but good to know it was the same fan on all of them.
Not quite my own, but it's a fun story to share nonetheless. My mom had a picture of a red 94 RT/10 she cut out of a magazine on the side of the fridge since pretty much 1994. It had started turning pink from being faded in the sun it had been up so long. She had always kept her eye out for...
For what it's worth, it was also used on Mercedes vehicles at the time, who happened to own Chrysler. So it was likely another case of "parts bin special" to some degree. I actually found a website for a college senior project where a team was investigating issues with the manufacture of the...
Do any of the other functions of your key fob work (like locking the door and setting the alarm)? Kind of wondering if you either lost sync with the fob or just have a dead battery on it. I agree that it's still odd that the car started without being disarmed though.
I went what I thought was the "best of both" with my hydraulic setup. I originally bought an AN line kit to fix my leaking fitting issue, but really didn't like the way it routed. I think I actually got sent a truck kit instead of the car, but either way I still wasn't really a fan and saw no...
Isn't that possible on the T56 as well? I had thought someone made a retrofit kit that let you put the later 6060 style 5/6 ratios in the 56, but maybe I'm not remembering that right. I've thought about this more and more as I cruise on the highway in mine. I used to love the idea of cruising...
This has always been sitting in the back of my mind for the day that OEM ECUs die and aren't being remade or can't be fixed (if that even actually happens). I have an MS3X setup on a 5.7 Hemi in my 67 Dart and love the open source nature of it and the ability to do just about anything you want...
It's actually super easy to take the fan assembly out. Once you pull the air box the radiator is wide open to deal with and the fan module comes out pretty easy at that point. The main annoyance would just be dealing with the fluid and stuff.
I just did a straight gen 3 to gen 4 swap back in the day. The whole housing and everything is a direct replacement. But as Dan said, if you're wanting to swap gears while you're at it there are better options out there. I've heard nothing but good things about the Wavetrac over the years. I...
I think most people on here recommend the stock copper Champion plugs. They seem to do a fine job and are actually affordable for a change as well. I don't recall how often they recommend replacing them off the top of my head though. I want to say it was either every 20k or maybe 60k miles...
Wow, I'm surprised the MCS prices have gone up so much. I debated upgrading mine to the two way setup so I could try to get a little better street manners by splitting the compression and rebound into separate adjustments. They actually suggested just selling them and buying new as the cost to...
I wonder if he won't work on them because he doesn't want to be held responsible if something goes wrong and he feels like BCs are more prone to failure? A little odd either way I'd agree, you'd think he could just say "no warranty".
As for prices, you should be able to get a set of MCS single...
