    Broken fan - What Now

I guess I meant also reinforcing that break while rebalancing. Like putting a metal strap across where the piece is missing, but being careful to do it in a way that wouldn't throw off the balance. My understanding is that theoretically speaking at least the fan is balance with the fan motor...

    Reset Adaptives

On the gen 3 at least all you needed to do was pull the battery cable and let it sit for a while. They usually also recommended touching the battery cables together once removed to make sure it would drain any capacitors or things like that that hold a charge for a while. Not sure 30 seconds...

Stock Amplifier question on 06 SRT

I ended up getting a Grom unit when I put a Dodge RB1 radio in my car a while back. Plugs into the aux port on the back of the radio and acts like a CD changer as far as the RB1 is concerned. The Grom unit can do bluetooth and USB drive streaming to give at least some amount of modernity to an...

VIN - another "where is it?" thread.

Huh, that's good to know. I've had that panel off countless times at this point and never noticed that. Will have to look the next time I'm in there now just because I'm curious.

    Broken fan - What Now

Do you think it would be possible to rebalance what you have or would that be more cost and effort than it's worth? It's missing a piece, so seems like it could potentially be "easy enough" to add some material back to get the balance back (like wheel weights on a wheel), but given the design...

    Brake Light Question

She still has it, lol. She was the reason I got my 04. Drove hers a few times and thought it seemed fun, but I wanted a roof and windows because it was going to be my daily for work. She wanted one ever since they came out and finally managed to find one. There's something about the early...

    Brake Light Question

My mom's 94 does something similar. Almost every time she hits the clutch the brake lights will come on as well. The two pedals are on a common pivot and I think over time the bushings get a little sticky so when you press the clutch it actually drags the brake pedal along with it just enough...

Best High Flow Cats or Maybe a Whole New exhaust System

Not sure I've heard of many different aftermarket cats in general. RandomTech seems to be the main name that comes up the most often. I think that is what Bellanger includes in their kits, but I could be wrong. To my ears I really like the Borla kits. They have a deeper tone that is more...

How to remove glovebox trim? (Gen 3)

You need to take the center console piece out. There is a flange on that piece that wraps around the front and has two screws that hold it into the center stack. I think there is also a bit of a tab that sticks under the lower section of trim (the center tunnel piece that extends under the...

Gen 3 Passenger Side Window Regulator

I had that same problem with the plastic pieces breaking out where the screws are. I 3D printed some cups that I super glued to the backside of the door to try to build that section back up. Worked for a while, but one of them has broken again. I think the material I used wasn't really great...

    Soft top latch

Yeah, the last portion of the latch movement takes a fair amount of force and translates fairly little movement at the lever to a lot of swing on the hook. It should sort of lock open if you pull the lever all the way back.

VIN - another "where is it?" thread.

I was under the impression the gen 3 engine had the VIN more toward the bellhousing than the front of the car, but I can't recall for sure where it was when I had mine out. That being said, it's possible they wouldn't match anyway if that is going to cause a problem. Not sure how they handled...

After 3 blown engines... Is the nightmare over?

I've rebuilt my stock engine twice now due to oil issues at the track. First one I got "lucky" and caught it while it was still knocking the rod bearing, second time I wasn't so lucky and shattered a rod. First time around I managed to salvage the crankshaft. Second time it was toast. I...

    Odometer Lighting

It's not terrible, but you have to be careful with old plastics. For the most part it's all just hex, torx, and phillips screws, then just clips you have to pull out. Helps to know where the clips are so you don't bend the plastic too much if you pull next to them instead of on top of them though.

    Dealer tools

You have to use the 899X ones for the gen 3+, they are reasonably different. Holes should be on both though. The one thing I did find a bit odd is that the front adapters I have seem to be aluminum while the rear adapters are steel or stainless or something. They are significantly heavier...

    2005 Wiper arm - change?

Never would have thought about trying to change the arms out. That makes quite a bit of sense, though I think it would probably be tough to find anything that would be a drop in replacement. Welding a set together seems like a reasonable idea though.

    Refinishing Windshield Wiper Arms

I think the factory finish is somewhere between semi or gloss, maybe like a satin? It's not super shiny, but it's definitely not matte. As best I can tell they are just straight black as well, though could be novel to change it up a little depending on your car color. Guess it depends on if...

Let me here your Gen 3's exhaust setup.

Quality is never going to be great since it was shot on various cell phones over the years, but here are a few samples of mine I've taken as I've been on the dyno. Borla cat back on stock manifolds (all 4 factory cats): https://youtu.be/2mUiHzBbDzQ This might have actually been my favorite...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

I think the only real difference between that and the factory tool is the angle of the threaded hole for the slide hammer. The factory one has it coming off at a slight able, presumably so you still seat it evenly against the axle cup but not have the hammer in the back of the knuckle. Good to...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

Yeah, that's the tool I've got, but don't recall what I paid for it. I went through the entire service manual and put all the Miller tools on a spreadsheet at one point so I could start tracking them down over time. I've got a pretty decent set going by now and while they don't get used a lot...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

Awesome write up! The one other thing I would suggest for tools for people would be the stub shaft puller (it's kind of like a power steering pulley puller in that it's a two piece shell with a rib that sits in the groove of the stub shaft) and an axle puller if you are working on an earlier...

Oil leak driver side front of engine

Glad you found it! I was really close to suggesting that at first just based on the location, but wasn't sure with the fluid color. I know the earlier cars used different stuff, but hard to say what is in anything when a car is 30 years old.

2006 Viper SRT AC - ABS Light Issue

You might have an electrical fault somewhere, but given that it goes away when you recycle the ignition maybe not. My A/C indicator light and fog lights would randomly come on when I switched on my turn signal in the past. Found out I had a worn out piece in the turn signal stalk that was...

    Steering?

Most cars will eventually lock as a theft deterrent feature. Even my old 71 Vette does this via a spring loaded pin and a plate with several slots cut around the outside of it. The pin retracts when you turn the key, but if you have a lot of pressure on the pin because the tires are dragging...

(New Here)2006 Viper - What should be my first modifications?

I think a lot of it depends on what you really want to do with your car or get out of it. The more I've modified my car the more I've also appreciated what it was like factory stock. There are definitely some preventative maintenance style upgrades though, and some other smaller quality of...
