What did you do to your Viper today?

6 weeks later, I decided to prep and paint the bare beaded faces with a graphite color. I searched a while for some nut caps to mask 2 wheels' worth so I didn't have to disassemble them for a nice job. Masking the lips took time, but I'll have the other 2 finished this coming weekend if it isn't...

    Plugs and wires

Small wires are just fine *IF* you keep them neatly routed away from header heat. Factory shielding and looms are nicely done, but wires will eventually fail along their length from aging of the outer sleeve. Racing/HDPE puts a lot more heat load around the plugs from exhaust headpipes and that...

Shift knob replacement on gen 1 car?

There are 2 wrench flats on the shifter ball base for the smaller wrench. The 3/4"/19mm jam nut is tightened right below it. Just tug down and twist the boot a little over the nut.

    Broken fan - What Now

Thermal efficiency is better when running warmer within reasonable limits. You just want to be able to 'keep a lid' on high demand heat rejection requirements so that you don't cook things under the hood.

    Broken fan - What Now

Gotta respect a man who goes boldly against popular wisdom and triumphs. So far, so good. Let us know how it works this summer, and with track loads. Probably going to need some refinement, but you seem up to the task. You do plan to replumb some steering cooling, right?

    parking brake cable broke

Did the crimped sleeve terminator come off, or did the cable fail in front of the sleeve? Crimping a new sleeve is a pretty easy repair.

Wanted - Gen 1 OEM Side Pipes

Moroso Spriral Flow mufflers do an outstanding job of minimizing loudness and still maintaining a deep rumble at idle and not-objectionable WOT levels. This is true even with HF cats.

    Plugs and wires

If you buy from Scott you get them any way you want.Taylor makes these style clamps that I've seen used on the glass sleeve stuff and they look really nice. I think you can get them in 8 or 10mm sizes. Although I've never actually seen how the studs attach to the separators, I think for our...

    New Radiator from X2Builders

If your end tanks are still good, just find a local radiator shop that can install a new 3-row core. I did that in January. If it's over about $750, keep shopping. I did a water pump with the FK impeller last summer. It's HAMMER TIME now!

    Plugs and wires

They are really good wires. I got the 8.5's with fiberglass sleeves. With the early OE open top wire separators, they will fit if your are careful. If you have the closure types, then get the 8.5s without the glass sleeves.

    Side Skirt Screws Loose/Missing

You should be able to source 1/4-20 galvanized bolts and washers pretty easily for corrosion resistance. The OE self-tappers are galvanized.

    Belanger header and motor mounts

They were standard pieces from https://thermalcontrolproducts.com/collections/performance/products/stainless-steel-heat-shield-8-x-22. The ones I got were 11x22. I had to make adapters to mount them, cut plug wire and mounting holes and finish the holes neatly. They are fantastic performers, but...

5245322 PCV Grommet NLA / Substitute

Chrysler Corporation has used exactly the same grommet for every car in their line since 1967. The ONLY difference for the Gen 2 is that it has a double-male barb pushed in from the backside. The Dorman part is good to go. They also make a replacement for the hose from there to the PCV valve. It...

    parking brake cable broke

The lever mechanism itself is from a early-90's LeBaron K-car. Is the single cable to the equalizer bar, the equalizer bar itself, or one of the rear caliper cables broken? Most areas with a lot of O&G, or heavy construction activity will have a shop who can build custom control cables, or...

    '99 GTS starts and stalls/dies

I do not recommend touching TB screws - even as a last resort. Especially not if it was working fine beforehand. My car had a small backfire after R&R of plugs and fuel treatment. I cranked but would not fire. I held the throttle wide open, cranked and fired but ran roughly and wouldn't idle. I...

    Gen 1 Audio Upgrade Thread.

Collectively, these were classed as BUX (Export) cars by Chrysler/Dodge. In the parts book, you would need to look for the suffix BUX for seatbelts, exhaust systems, lighting, etc. Since they spent the money to move the shoulder belts and exhaust inboard, they were able to defray the...
