I've always used the OEM Viper oil filter (5037836AB) but I've been having difficulty finding them. When I do, they're running around $25 shipped, which seems overly expensive to me. Can someone recommend an alternate oil filter for Gen ll Vipers?

After a short drive I have oil spotting on top of the valve cover under the MAP sensor. It's been a year now and it never gets worse than the photo shows. I've tightened the valve covers. I can't see oil leaking any other place under the hood. Any ideas where this is coming from?
I'm planning to replace my rubber heater hoses with silicone hoses. Is this a simple task...drain coolant and simply replace the hoses or does it require movements of other parts? Any precautions to be aware of?
