has any one run into this before? basically after driving it for 10 minutes (wasnt even a hot day) i parked the car, got out and when trying to lock it , i noticed that there was no beep. but the car was locked. remote no onger worked and using temp disabling immobilizer ddint get the car to start. got it towed to the dealer and they said that unplugging and replugging the engine entry module (sealed unit) started it right up.
Now they are recommending that I either

1, take it as it is with teh caveat that this might happen again since they dont know root cause 9could be a short or due to heatup)

2, or replace the engine entry module for $530 installed with pretty mucht e same caveats.

so friends, I am ina pickle here. would really appreciate any pointers.

Happens from time to time with mine. Not often and hasn't happened in a while.

I usually disable the alarm with the keyhole in the glove box. Then I re-synch the fob to the entry module by holding the two buttons down at the same time until the horn honks.

Has worked for me so far.

This is not a new issue with others on the board. My fix doesn't work for everyone also, where the disconnect of the entry module has.

So at this point, it's up to you to replace the entry module or not, but if you have the extended warranty, I'ld think that it would be free to replace.

i tried the re-sync after disabling alarm through the keyhole in glove box but that didnt help in my case. dont have extended warranty either, hance the concerns if it will even fix my issue or as the dealer is stating that it just might happen again :-(

is disconnecting the recoeecting the entry module an easy thing to do? or is that something that requires taking out the front console and go in deeper?

Just requires removing the knee bolster on the driver's side. The module is strapped to the center console and easily accessible.

I have read that replacing the module has fixed the problem for some. Again, it's electronics, and flakey at that, so it's 50/50 whether it fixes your problem or not.

Last night my 2000 GTS did the same thing. I even forgot the switch in the glovebox. My Dad brought me the other remote and that worked. After I got home, I reset the fob by holding both buttons and all is back to normal.
