What a great price...but as I looked at the pics..To my HORROR I saw that
some knucklehead at the Dealership actually bolted the front License bracket
right into the front facia :curse:  ***!... what a deal killer.... even if you live in a state that requires a front plate why put two giant holes in a perfect paint job???... :(

Or am I just to Fanatical????

I agree. It is worth the ticket not to have to bolt on a plate.

One ticket for me so far and well worth it.

I was going to ask that about New Yorkers, how much hassle do you get for not putting on the front plate? How much is the ticket?

Seriously..Dodge needs to provide a hidden bracket attachment....These are special cars...and to provide a frame that has to be bolted right into the painted facia
is sacrilige....It Totally destroys the value of the car.

This is something that has been needed since 1992....yet they still cant seem to understand the customer.

No dealership anywhere has any good reason for doing that, :evilmad: *** were they thinking, the dealership that had my FE Coupe, called me before they even put a state inspection sticker on the window, they did not want to even remove the interior plastic wrap, afraid I would refuse the car.

My state requires front tags, but no way would I attach that POS bracket to a $5K front facia, I call it a front tag delete from the factory, and if that is no good, then start writing the ticket...

Very nice price, but, I would walk also, BTW way FE 049/200 is still available here at Tysinger Dodge...

I just got one 3 weeks ago, 90 bucks.
And I'm still NOT putting a front plate on. :2tu:

It is not that bad knock on wood. Gotten a few hassels but that is about it. You really get it at the Midtown Tunnel Toll booths sometimes. Acutally to think about it, it almost always happens at toll booths or when you get pulled over for a BS reason and they need to pin something on you.

I know that there is a FE coupe for sale at Bill Luke Dodge in Phoenix and in Arizona we do not have the plate hassles.

That plate really makes a difference but they will probably get someone to still pay their price because it will be someone who does not even notice or does not care as much as some do about their cars. Personally I hate front plates on exotics!

Isn't there a bracket that attaches using suction cups?

Thats the one i got (when i use it) Jon B Parts rack...
A guy in our region (western Canada) designed a plate bracket out of a soft plastic, that easily installs in about 3 seconds - this is the one available from Parts Rack for $54...but it does not attach by suction.
I have been stopped numerous times and I always give the same excuse(S)...I just washed the car and forgot to put it back on, or I just took the car cover off and forgot to put it on. In both cases get it out of your trunk, pop it on and it keeps the cops happy.....by the way the last 2 times this happened to me it was the same cop who stopped me both times - within a week!! Needles to say I got a ticket the second time!
But in the past the device has saved me numerous tickets. Well worth the price of the bracket.

Got stopped in my EVO pulling past 100 MPH on the 5 Fwy. CHP wanted to give me a break (1st time I ever got off but that's another story) and he was able to give me a no-front-plate ticket to justify the stop. Had 90 days to put the plate on and get local police to sign off the $10 DOLLAR TICKET. Kept the ticket in my glove box for 85 days just in case I was stopped again. The EVO has the right setup; rivnuts (hard points) flush mounted on the underside of the front facia so it only takes 2 minutes to screw the bracket/plate on and off and leaves no ugly holes.
Besides being ugly, I was told by a laser-using cop that sometimes they get the readout from the laser reflecting back off the flat face of the front plate and that without one they often can't get a speed reading from a sleek front-ended car. Be careful out there in your SUV's.

I dropped the seller a note and respectfully suggested that they probably cost themselves close to $5,000 with most potential buyers that have ever owned a Viper. Be interesting to see if they reply...

Okay...so do any of you know of any member who has actually drilled holes in their Viper for the plate? Of all the Vipers I have seen over the years, at many, many different events, I don't recall ever seeing one.

It is just stupid for the dealer to put on the factory bracket.

I am required to run a front plate but built a bracket that clamps to the full width polymer bumper support. I didn't think suction cups would hold up over bumps or at high speeds.

Interesting story. It sounds like in some cases it's actually helpful then to have no front plate.

well it makes no sense at all...in British Columbia (my home province) we are required to have a front plate. In Alberta, right next to BC, they don't need one! This has been a very big issue with all the "car" people in BC for years - it is a big crock of $hit!
