10 Spokers - worth saving? Or dump \'em?

Gents,

Ordering a set of "5 long spoke (AKA FE)" wheels. Trade-in $$ of my 10 spokes appears to be in the dumper.

Are the 10 spokes worth holding onto? Anyone want a cheap set of perfect wheels??

Not worth saving unless your car is a collectors item that you are keeping for 20+ years. There are so many out there that they do not hold any value. Just like the GEN II Aluminum plated wheels. The values are in the toilet.

I am sure you can sell them for a few thousand on ebay so long as the rims and tires are in good condition.

Give me a price on the cheap set of perfect wheels.

BTW F355, this statement is completely untrue "Just like the GEN II Aluminum plated wheels. " Gen 2 wheels are not plated, they are polished aluminum.

Are you taking a piss? ( with British accent )

I think if you showed a people who've never seen the Gen III wheels before, and asked which ones look best, They'd say the 10 spoke.
We're bored with them because we've been looking at them for 4 1/2 yrs.

I'd hoard them.

Not to jam on the 5 spoke but, how many manufacturer put five spoke wheels on their cars now? Sports cars too minivans.

Don't dump them! They are worth at least $2500-$3000 if the tires are good. Even if you don't want to keep them, don't just throw them away, you'll get decent money for them on Ebay.

As others have said, "Keep them if you can.".You could always put a set of tires on them and use them as a track set. You could also sell them on EBAY as well. They are getting a pretty good price for them on there. How much are you wanting to sell them for? You could always list them on EBAY and just put your minimum bid plus the 10-15% fee that Ebay would charge you as the amount you have been offered already. That way you know you will make at least that much.

Ummmmm, for Silver Mamba 200 of 200 I think I would hold onto every piece of original equipment. Someday Viper collectors may be so crazy as to check build codes on wheels for dates etc. Believe me the old Vette boys do, even on the common Rally wheels for C3 they are date coded and numbered for each year. Having said that I don't know if Gen 3 wheels have codes but I bet they do. Another piece of logic is if you keep the stock wheels it would be easier to get big money for the new customs separately then it would if you try and inflate the price of the car to cover HREs or whatever. Just slap the stockers back on and throw the customs on EBay or here.

I was deciding whether to sell my stock ones or not, and came up with the same conclusion. In the end, you will get a bet return on used after market then for a used stock set up. If i ever decide to sell, I can just slap the stock ones back on.

It is tough these days to get any additional return for minor or bolt on modifications on a used car.

Lee said it all, there is absolutely no way you should even remotely consider getting rid of your stock rims. When you eventually decide to sell the car, it is likely to go to someone who sees the significance of having the last Silver Mamba made. I can guarantee he/she will want the original wheels and in fact you would decrease the value on this specific car if you were lacking them.

Hang on to them, and when and if you sell the car do as wise of Lee suggested-----sell the 5 spokes.
