Although the battery may be old, If it has enough juice to crank over and over it should have enough power to run. Check all the obvious, fuel filter etc..

Are you getting a check eng light?

It happened to me during rush hour at a busy intersection! All the punks took shots at me since the car was on the side of the road broken down. When I got home, I changed the fuel pump relay in the right side of the trunk. Then it started back up perfectly. To see if that was the problem, I put the old back and the car would not start. So now I keep a spare in the trunk. You can get the relay at any parts store.

My car did that to me twice. I have the ROE Vec 1 in my car. I had been doing a lot of work inside the car. The dials on the calibration box accidently moved. The car would stall when cold. I called Sean and he helped me dial it back in. The car has not stalled since.
Could be the battery

Not a Viper, but a DC product anyway... I had the same thing happen to me as well with my Jeep Cherokee. Turned out the fuel pump was bad. When you switch the ignition
off and then on, can you hear the fuel pump whirring/pressurizing the lines? Have you checked fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail?
Good luck...

Johnboy,
I recall that Dan Cragin helped someone out with a similar problem. I belive there is some wire harness that goes over the transmission which had a tendency to rub and short out in older Vipers. I couldn't find the tread, so hopefully he will post the specifics again.

I was going to say the exact same thing, there is a 90% chance that is your problem. Do a search and good luck.
