Man, after what you did so far and the advice you got, I mean ARCHERS got a shop nearby that could check it? According to the other thread, I can't believe you won't take a plane from Colorado to Texas to check it out, or at least take it to the point of letting someone else check it out. Why back out before that was done, you asked for help and advice, A bunch was offered, the dealer sounds vague, like ALL dealers, maybe due to ignorance, why back out before having it checked out by someone, check it out, THEN tell the dealer to shove any cancellation fees due to the fact he misrepresented it. You sound like you want a really good deal, well you're never gonna get one if you back out at this point every time. I'm not trying to flame you here, I'm trying to encourage you ...heck I was the biggest naysayer about ebay, but KEEP GOING, man there's no way to tell yet whether it's a great deal or junk.

Good point. With the $7,000+ you saved on the car you can easily afford a plane ticket.

I think I would rather spend my money on a second house in the mountains (my Dad is getting married and is moving out of his home). Once I get the second house under my belt, then I think I am going to look at picking up an ACR (probably next summer). Here in Colorado it is going to snow pretty soon so I won't have a whole lot of use for the car for the next 5 months or so. It is tempting, because I think you could probably buy the car and sell it for more or at the very least you can probably sell it for what you paid for it (in a year or two). You can't do that with too many Vipers. I would like to have the cash now for a house rather than putting it into a car. Once I get my second place, I want to see where I am financially and get another car. I have been keeping watch on a solid black ACR for the past 5 months and this is a sweet deal for someone, as long as the car checks out. If I had another 55K I would pick it up - no question. Now that I am looking at another house I would like to use the money for a nice down payment - not for a car that will sit for 5 months and I will only be able to kiss it good night and dream of summer. I wish I had thought about all this before I bid, but I guess my emotions got the best of me and I didn't have the second house opportunity. If the car was in Colorado and it looked as good as it does in the pictures I would probably cave in and get it. I hope someone else can take advantage of this deal and can enjoy the car.

1st of all you wasted the time of many of the board members and now you are wasting the time of the seller on Ebay.

BTW it costs $40 to register a car on Ebay and another $40 when the auction ends and there is a winner. If the winning bidder backs out the seller still gets charged $80.

Do us a favor and at least change your sig, or are you still looking for an ACR.

Lastely in NO WAY whatsoever is that price a steal if it was you could just buy it and resell it.

I intend on paying the seller 80 dollars for the aution. I wasn't right of me to bid and back out. I do not feel good about doing this, this was really stupid on my part. I will change my signature. As far as the price, take a look at the classified and every where else. I bet you won't find one for under 60K with 9K miles.

Joseph, Your one lucky son of a gun.... if that had been my
auction you would be sending me a check for $1000.. just
like the description told you.

By you backing out on the car, the owner will have to repost the
car on the auction and everybody that had any interest will now
wonder what is wrong with the car if the first guy backed out.

When all the dust settles the car will now probably sell for less.

From the owners veiw that just plain *****....

Hey, If you don't want something then don't bid on it... its
that simple...

Hope you enjoy your second house. wow.. it takes all kinds of
folks doesn't it.

Joe, you've been very honest and remorseful about the fact that you leaped before you looked, or thought it out, and I think those kinds of honest comments about making a mistake are what's stopping everyone from flaming you, but I am still struck by the fact that you still say " if the car was in Colorado and looked as good as it does in the pictures I would probably cave in and buy it." Now you had all kinds of Texas guys step up to the plate and volunteer to look at the car and believe me our Texas guys are SERIOUS about their Vipers, met a bunch of them at VOI. One of them is going to go look at this car and maybe buy it, and you will have missed a golden opportunity.
Now one more comment, my Texas brothers, Joe keeps saying this MIGHT be such a great car and if only it was in Colorado, and if it looked as good as the pictures and I'm willing to pay cancellation fees but not look for a cheap flight but guys still go look at the car and hey maybe it's a great buy for one of you guys. I have NEVER met a Viper guy who would not drop EVERYTHING to get on an airplane if it was a great deal. Now having said that, and not wanting to defame Joe, does anyone know Joe? Anyone from Colorado? Is it possible that this a another extension of the old ebay bid it up and sell it to someone else scheme? And again, Joe, I mean no flame but your comments do not make sense, and as I mentioned earlier I'm in the JonB, EBay of pigs camp, But if you are in the market, and you got the money, no airplane, no check by the Texas Viper guys, does not compute man.

no reason to bid what so ever unless you are a game player, are you?
****
You owe the seller more than the $1000.00 for wasting so many peoples time. The seller might of had a dead line and now you ****** him around. Maybe you need to stay out side next time it snows 10 feet.

I admit I am a ****, ******* or whatever you want to call it. I sell lots of stuff on Ebay and hate it when people back out of my auctions. I never said what I did was right, it was wrong no discussion. Lets not turn this thread into, why Joe is a **** - I don't think there is much to say I am 100% in the wrong. I am trying to turn this wrong into a right. I think my mistake/stupidity could turn into a nice positive for someone else. 55K for that Viper is a d@mn good deal. Just look on autotrader and cars.com and you won't find a single 2000 solid black ACR that is selling for close to 55K that has only 9K miles. This deal is REALLY good, but you need to check out the car first. I don't know the seller nor do I have any motive to sell the car only that I feel bad that I backed out of the deal and that it could be a fantastic deal for someone else. If I was back in the market for a solid black ACR I would buy it - trust me. I want to help the dealer and help someone else get a good deal here, I feel that since I backed out I should at least try to help sell the car. Who can argue this isn't a golden opportunity if the car checks out ok?

I recently won this auction on Ebay, but decided I did not want the car. On paper everything appears to check out with this car (clean carfax and plate). I would strongly advise someone take a look at this car in person before you buy. I just thought I would pass along this deal to someone... normally this car sells for 62K and that is a pretty firm price so this is a nice 7K discount in your pocket for mods or whatever. If you don't believe me, take a look at the classified, some even run for 70K. I feel bad about backing out of this deal and if it is as good as it appears it shouldn't sit for very long...

Just thought I would pass along a good deal... nice car and a really nice price. I think it would be safe to say someone here wants this car, can a VCA member close to this dealer do us a big favor and take a look at the car?

PLEASE! DO not turn this into a AlexRedSnake thread post. He F...ed up, made a bad choice(even admitted so) let's move on. There are better things to discuss other than this, aren't there? He's learned his lesson, so lets cut him a brake all find out if we can buy the car and make some $$$.

May I pass along two words of wisdom to all the finacial **** kids on this site.

1. Something, even a wonderful, fantastic Viper, is only worth what someone is willing to pay. (think about it before you invest)

2. It is always easy to buy, hard to sell.
