What about on a 2000 that was built in 12/99? Any thoughts on the cam?

My thoughts are that it is the same as any of the other cams/pistons produced for the 2000/2001 model years. It is a relatively early build (mine was 10/99), so there is a remote chance it has powdered metallic cylinder sleeves. These were discontinued after the first +/- 200 Vipers in the 2000 model year. The tighter tolerances offered by this sleeve supposedly gave it a bit more grunt, but also led to a few having problems with oil consumption. I don't know if they had switched to the iron sleeves by 12/99 or not. The cams and pistons did not change to my knowledge. Too much information?

Thanks Chris, I wouldn't be surpirsed if the car has the old sleeves. It does go through a fair amount of oil.

Then it might be worth having Arrow re-build the motor like Chris and I have done. It will probably save you some problems in the future and you'll have a fresh motor, FREE!
