Viperholics,

I read an article in Road&Track (2002 model guide), and they ran the 2002 Z06 at (0-60 4.3) (1/4 mile 12.7). Weight as tested over 3,300 lbs. as well. Chevy, At least give us a challenge!!!

Still the King.........

those are really poor numbers for an '02. if it was an '01, i could understand but not an '02. trust me, those numbers are not representative of the Z. For the '02, the following numbers are realistic and have been attained on stock cars:

0 to 60: 4.0 - 4.1
1/4 ET: 12.0 - 12.3
1/4 trap: 116-119

if you check out www.zo6vette.com, you will see that quite a few Z owners have been laying down these kind of numbers with basically stock cars...and stock tires....some, like myself, have only added an intake and thermostat....there have been several '02 Z owners who have posted 11.9 1/4 et's with just an air intake!

i post this info here for those who havent raced an '02 Z so they will know and understand how close it is between a stock viper and a stock '02 Z06...the gap has narrowed...which is cool and makes all of this fun!...of course, the power advantage goes to the Viper but being able to put it down on the street goes to the Vette...my neighbor has an '01 GTS and we have raced several times on the street and the track...with my Z winning a majority of the races on the street...except when I drive his GTS then its about half and half....at the track, where traction is better, its more evenly split....if we go from a roll above 40 mph, its all viper. this all comes from a current '02 Z owner and someone looking to purchase a Gen II GTS.
