2007 Coupe 650HP?!?!

Im going to be adding a new coupe to my collection. I was going to be purchasing a 2006 Black Coupe but ive been hearing rumors that the 07 coupe is suppose to have 625-650hp.

Does anyone know of any facts about the 07 coupe?
Please let me know?

Hi Anton. What are the other vehicles in your collection? Knowing might assist us in helping you to decide whether to wait for something that may or may not be produced versus purchasing a vehicle, the 2006 SRT coupe, that exists.

who cares??? the Gen III has more horsepower than the GenI or II, but its not nearly as cool or good looking. If the only thing you care about is HP then just supercharge your '06 coupe.

everyone gets so bent out of shape about the horsepower numbers and how they stack-up against a high-volume cobalt on steroids. to me, if your so concerned with horsepower, you don't understand the Viper...

oh, and I mean that in the nicest, friendliest way...

I think DC will beef-up the Viper, but I don't think '07 will give them enough lead time to pull off 650HP, and I don't think we will ever see numbers like that in a sub-$100K Viper...

the gen 2 cars definetily look better then gen 3's, but i still like a new coupe and want a new daily driver. I just wanna know if the o7 will have more power than the 06 if so ill wait if not ill buy the 06. My 99 is getting hefners twin turbo by summmer so its not about the hp.

What have you done to it and are you going to do more? You should post your answer in the general discussion area or its named equivalent. Thank you. Now that I see the components of your collection, I would guess that you only add to your collection when you feel passionately about the design of the car. Perhaps your question, in and of itself, is the answer to your question. If you really loved the new coupe, I do not think that you would be asking the question. Go with your gut. On the other hand, another way to answer the question is why buy the first year of a new vehicle? I have never bought the first year of any vehicle. Engineering is not perfect - even with all the new gadgets they have to help them create the vehicle. If you do not have an urgent need for the vehicle, wait for year two. The Viper has a history of rolling improvements. Even if there is no substantial bump in power, there may be a few improvements. Before you ask, I am not aware of anything but rumors that have already been posted on this board. However, my own belief is that the dedicated, proud people of SRT will not suffer being part of the heard of 500 HP cars for long. I look forward to the Viper Nation regaining the uncontested world title for having the meanest, most muscular, menacing, performance coupe put out for street use by a major manufacturer.

True - the only "evidence" that it will be in a Viper is that one of the platforms listed for the 8.4L V-10 is ZC, which is the platform code for the next Viper. As far as hard and fast evidence (such as that of a photographic nature) you're right - it doesn't exist.

Just wait another month or so, if it happens in 07 it should be release at the Detroit auto show.

Actually, my guess is that the gen IV Viper (if it's coming in '07 as a MY '08) will be debuted to us at VOI in September.
