Has anyone done it? Just curious what the car sounds like without the mufflers? Is it unbearably loud? I would figure with all the cats, it couldn't be too loud. I don't want to go to the Bellangers yet, and I've heard the Corsa isn't very loud. I ran without mufflers (replaced with a straight pipe) on my last 2 cars, and they were just the sound level I was looking for. Thanks for the help.

Were those 2 cars Vipers? I have stock headers and cats on my '04, with no mufflers, and it is way louder than any not-deaf person would want for a car that sees any street time. I keep a box of earplugs in the center console for the rare occasion I take the car out on the street. They make a massive difference in comfort level, and actually make it easier to hear the stereo.

I love how the car sounds when racing though, makes it all worth it! :)

Well I've got the RT hi-flo cats and Corsa track exhaust and it's plenty loud for me. Cruising gets your attention, not ridiculous, open it up....well that's a whole other story. :headbang:

Can't even imagine how loud it would be after taking off the mufflers... :omg:

Well, the stock exhaust has 4 cats correct? Switching to the Corsa's on the 08 I've heard is not very loud, and the 2008 sounds nice, just not nearly as loud as I would like. I wanted to keep all the cats and replace the muffler with a straight pipe. I could justify paying $1500 for a Corsa if it made it considerably louder, but just slightly louder isn't worth it. From what I understand, there aren't any catbacks for the 08 that are very loud, which is why I raised the question. Thanks!

I replaced the mufflers on my 03 with a straight pipe, and the sound was fine. But, of course, there was still the cross over pipe. The 08 would have to be louder, but the cost to experiment is low. For sure under $50 if you do the switch.

Bill, thanks for the info. Would you say it was about as loud as your stock 2008? I'm looking into the stripes this week, so hopefully we will have another blue/white 2008 in the next month or so :D

Got the same exhaust here, but with Belanger Headers to. WOT is very loud and awesome sounding. Thinking very serious about yanking the RT Cats but don't know if the noise would be bearable after that.

I figured that would be an issue Mark, but didn't know how large of an issue it would be. Is the stock exhaust bolted up after the cats, or is it welded from the manifold all the way to the tips? Like Bill said, it's not gonna be an expensive undertaking to weld in a straight pipe, but I still don't want to hack up my Viper. I guess I could always go with a Corsa if things don't work out.

Will not be hard the cat back slip fits after the cats and the best part is the 08' has a removable tip you will be able to swap also.

You don't do any welding. You just use clamps. The straight pipe is made to the same length as the muffler, or may be a half inch shorter, with the same diameter ends as the muffler you removed. When I traded in my 03, I sent the mufflers along with it, and Roanoke reinstalled the mufflers and returned my pipes. Drone was not an issue with the 03. There was more popping when decelerating and it was louder at WOT. And in 20,000 miles, you know I had some long distance driving. So you can try it if you want, without hacking up you Viper. Mark would know if the 08 muffler is the same as the 03-06. If it is, you can have my old pipes----free.:)
