Has anyone installed clear 3M over their side sills? If so, did it turn yellow even with high flow cats? Where can I purchase it?

I had it on my vette and it worked well. However I don't think that is a good idea to put it on the side. You can buy it on the Web

I bought some of the 3M film, but have yet to put any on the car. If memory serves me, 3M thinks that the sills are too hot for their film to remain stable. (Not turn yellow) I guess you could Zaino the heck out of the sills, and install the film to try it. You can take it off, but I am led to believe that it is a project.

I have the Utah Clear Bra stuff covering my WHOLE sidesill. No yellow yet, but only 2000 miles. If you are worrying about chips in the paint, just put it on the bottom half, up as high as the middle or top of the bulge (which seems to be prone to rock chips) on the side of the sidesill. I don't think it gets as hot there, as it does on the tops of the sidesills.

I don't like the 3M stuff ( www.customprotex.com/ ) as much as the Utah stuff( www.clearbra.net/home2.html ). For me, it was much harder to lay the 3M down without getting creases, dents, and imperfections in the surface that looks kinda bad.

Good points made above. now that I am reminded more of what I found out, I do remember that when checking sill temps, especially after the car is shut down..the only really hot spots were indeed above the cats..not as bad on the bottoms. I think my plan was to place the 3M stuff along the bottom of the sill. (Now all I need is the ambition to get out and do it!)
