Sent my 06 5 spokes to CalChrome today (God, I am bad at packaging and these things are a bear especially with tires on)

I am also having center caps chromes and SRT logo done in red. I figure chrome /red will look nice on a black/silver stripe Viper.

Will post picks upon receipt.

I can't wait to see a set of chrome 5 spokes INSTALLED on a viper. Please take SEVERAL high quality photos, I never tire of seeing the chrome 5 spoke pictures. :2tu:

I got my chromed 5 spokes back from CalChrome a couple weeks ago. Want to get them put on without any damage to the wheel. I think I have found some one to install and balance so I should have them on soon.

CalChrome does great work. You will be very pleased with the finished product.

I think Wallbanger is the one that we can blame for our wallets being a little lighter. I love the way his H spokes looked. Should have my calchrome 5 spokes mounted within a couple of weeks.

One of us should have thought to ask CalChrome about a group buy. At a minimum they should consider being a site sponsor.

I've been pondering the change for a long time because of the dreaded clearcoat hazing. I'm expecting major bling as a result of the chroming and the stock 10 spokes are just about my favorite Viper wheel including aftermarket. I think most of the dislike of the 10 spoke is simply because they're common.

REMEMBER calchrome has great customer service so they may send you a pic of the rims before shipping...My avatar pic and also a few others i have posted in the past were actually taken by calchrome and they also posted them on their website...When you have your rims mounted on the car send a pic back to calchrome and your car may end up on their website

Super, they do great work.
I assume shipping to and from is a bear X 10 since I am on the RIGHT coast.
Do you ship them with the tires on and they are re-balanced?

I shipped mine with the tires on the wheels in accordance with their direction. They will dismount and remount prior to shipping back.

To package everything I cut out round pieces of cardboard "large disks". I taped 2 disks (for extra thickness) to each side of the tires/wheels to cover the sides. I then took shrink wrap and wrapped the hell out of everything and re-taped. I shipped via FexEx Ground. I shipped them last Monday. The got there Friday. Total cost for all 4 tires/wheels from rural Maryland was $276.76. I dropped them off at a regional FedEx facility. To drop them off at one of those "FedEx stores" would have been around $400.00.

i answered your srt lettering color on another thread

You can ship em with tires on or off and i've done it both ways

If you ship em with the tires on it might cost more but the packaging is easier because you only have to protect the front and back of the rims .. you can do this by cutting out a circular piece of cardboard and then taping it to the tire and rim(just like outlaw says).... i've seen pics posted before... the other reason this works well is calchrome can fill your tires with Nitrogen which is a great asset in climates where the temperature varies.. another reason is they will mount the tires without damaging the rims

The other option is to just ship the rims.. you need good boxes and padding though.. i happened to have a set already.. calchrome will ship in their own packaging....You will need a good tire installer that you trust not to damamge the rims when they install the tires...

calchrome can answer all u're questions .. great customer service

Thanks for the very useful information, and yes, I just found Calchromes website, wow, what a great big operation. They should open one up on the east coast down here as well.

Just like you, I would ship the wheels with the tires, can't really trust anyone locally not to screw things up.

After seeing your H-wheels, with red SRT, it looks like a great way to improve the look at a much smaller stipend, compared to buying after-market set. Thanks again, Steve

I am in the process of resurfacing my iforged wheels as well. Got a quote of around 3,100 for shipping and everything. I will more than likely try to find a good wheel/tire guy for tire removal/remounting and have the powder coating on my wheel centers and inner hub done locally. The outer lips will be sent to Calchrome. I will be breaking down and reassembling the wheels myself. This will save a little on shipping and labor and plus the powder coat guy is a friend of mine and owes me a couple of favors :).
