My rear center consol speaker is cracking, not the big sub, but the 5" "Alpine"speaker.

Is this a fix the dealer can do or should I go to a car-audio specialist?

How in the heck is that speaker pulled? Anyone know?

Thanks in advance,

If it's like the Gen 2, there is a metal ring holding the grill on. Look at the bottom and you should find an opening to stick a small metal screwdriver in to pop the ring off. you should just be able to pick up a speaker and swap it out. If you want to stay factory, perhaps Jon B may have one layin' around.

It's pretty easy...most speakers have a removable grill and then 4 screws holding the actual speaker in place. You should be able to get a replacement Alpine speaker for under $100. However, if you want something really clear, Boston Acoustics makes a great car stereo speaker. I used to have them in my Wrangler back in my younger days. Great sounds when the top is down! With the vert, it would be a good speaker to "upgrade" to as it would cost about the same as Alpine.

Alpine seems to have diluted the brand over the years to be more afordable for everyone (it used to be a huge status symbol). BA still makes a great product and I've thought about upgrading my system to them in the near future.
