First, do the throttle cable sync.

Second, this is a common issue with part of the trans tunel being to short and flexes under initial load.

But to play it safe... check you driveshaft connections at the 3rd memeber, make sure the 3rd member has clean gear oil, and check your half-shafts.

Mine does it too, some of it goes away w/ the throttle sync. Both 93 and 95 cars I drove did it as well.

If this is a new noise that was not there before, I'd bet money that you have a busted U-joint. Cost you $10-15 for a new one, I'd replace both while you have the drive shaft off. You can check for this by jacking up the car, make sure it is in gear,or the e-brake is applied, and grabbing the d/s and twisting back and forth. If you have a busted U-joint, you'll know it. May check your half shafts if it's not the d/s.

There was a TSB (Tehcnical Service Bulletin) a few years ago on this very thing, I believe. If you look at the ladder bar connection (bolts) to the rear end, I think you will see that there has been some slippage where the bolts loosened up on the ladder bar and it slides back and fourth under acceleration. Bring it to your friendly Dodge dealer and he will re-torque all the torque points on the suspension under the TSB. If I remember, there are about 8 or 10 points to retorque, does not take long, and it should fix the problem. Mine started doing it again a bit ago, the bolts were retorqued, and the clunk went away!

I agree with everyone else. Basicallly you are going to have to jack the car up and crawl underneath it to check for loose U joints, Loose Torque bar or anything else loose.

Also check for a broken torque bar, happened to me on my 95 and a couple of others told me it happened to them.

Let us know what you find, I am just curious now.
