97\' parts on a 96 GTS?

My GTS was built on 9/18/96. When I went to take it in for a new serpintine belt they said that they had to put a 97' on it instead. They explained that they ordered a 96' and it didn't fit. They later explained because it was built in 9/96, that a 97' belt was the correct part. That's wierd. What other parts on the car are like this?

Because 1996 was a transition year between GEN I and GEN II, (GTS = GEN II, RT/10 = GEN I) it's usually safer to order 1997 parts for your GTS as in 1997 everything was GEN II. I would guess 99.999% are identical between 1996 & 1997 GTS's
