Was testing out my new digital camera tonight. My previous camera wasn't very good at night shots. I haven't figured out all the settings yet (I am sure I could improve these with some of the different filter and focus options), but was still pretty pleased:

I edited these pictures for size, having originally shot them all at 1600 x 1200. It is a 4.13 megapixel camera and these were not shot at the "best" setting, as I could have shot them at 2240 x 1680. Of course, I think the black cars look absolutely wicked at night as it is. Thus my plates: 2WICKED

Hope you like the photos!

Wow, I like 'em. I've been wondering how my digital camera will work at night. Now I'm motivated to give it a try.

Of course, a red Viper will look much better.

Son, I don't see any front plate. Drivers' license and proof of insurance, please...

I also notice that the utility companies in your area like to dig up perfectly good streets too. What is it about pristine asphalt pavement that makes some people want to dig trenches in it?

Nice job, Chris. You should try taking some with just the parking lights on - reduces the flare and makes for a nice look!

Of course I did that as well:

I ended up shooting 48 pictures from most angles, as well as all four flavors of car lighting: No lights, parking lights, parking lights with driving lights, and all lights. No, I didn't bother with high beams...

I am still looking these over and appreciate the comments!

Chris

PS. to Dean: And this shot should really make you wonder about those utility companies. Especially since these are BRAND NEW streets and parking areas built in the last six months...

The only way to slow the insanity is to find a few names of (supposedly) responsible people, then take your 5 minutes at a city council meeting and have a slide show to go along with your tirade.

These street cuts are *never* backfilled properly and provide an easy path for water migration into the subgrade. Then, the road progressively fails from the bottom-up.

Here is my night time picture. Really liked the way the car was photo copied on the water. Hope you all enjoy.

Dean,

I say this with the utmost respect ... You are a road geek. Who else would notice such things. You are the Picasso of pavement, the Ansel Adams of asphalt and a re-bar Rembrandt. A connoisseur of crushed stone and a sub-base savant.

If it weren't for you Aggies and the great roads you build, how could we Longhorns enjoy the double blessing of dishing a butt-kicking at Kyle field followed by a pleasant high speed cruise back to Austin.
