Cant wait to get it installed.

What do you think about an additional insulation around the HF-cat. My dealer proposes glass-fiber-layers ???

Sehr Schön!
Mit HF-kat brauchen Sie vermutlich keinen zusätzlichem Värmeschutz.
Like my german? :) It's been like 15 years since I wrote any german.

JP:
"Wärme" - ansonsten fast perfekt, bis auf das Siezen.
Dein Deutsch ist sehr gut, wenn man bedenkt, dass Du seit 15 Jahren keine Gelegenheit zum Üben hattest!

I read that the high-flow cats were actually supposed to run cooler than the stock ones. I am considering adding them to get a slight HP gain, but also to run cooler (if this is true).

Since they appear significantly smaller in diameter than stock and run cooler, I question the need or benefit of added insulation. The extra airflow that the smaller diameter allows in my mind would provide more benefit than added insulation.

Would you be able to post a picture of the inside of the HF Cat? I'm curious how the HF cat compares to the corrugated media in the stock cats.

Thanks

If you look through the HF-cats against a light, you could see the light.

My dealer told me: it is not the heat during driving (air flow cools), but if you drive (may be fast & hard) and STOP, it is the HOT air going UP to the side sill.

This has been discussed at length, you might try some searches. I just had the RT HF cats installed, and the Corsa 3" cat back. The body shop is in the process of painting my side sills, as they were yellowing a bit from the heat of the stock cats...

So my conclusion after all the advice is: you really should not need extra insulation with the HF cats, since they run significantly cooler. Several folks have noted that with the HF cats installed, they can actually touch the side sills after long drives with their hands, and previously they could not.

Since I have not had a chance to drive with mine, I can't give you my personal results. The other info that was suggested was to remove the insulation from the side sill, and spray the inside of the sill with VHT-1500 heat resistant/reflective paint.

After all the advice, I decided not to use the VHT-1500 paint. wish me luck!!
