Add ons in general do not add any value to a car.A full exhaust system with headers,HF cats and a cat back might add a couple of hundred to resale value, and I said might. So do what you're going to do to please yourself.Be careful of the way-out stuff that could actualy lower a cars value like swapping in a v-8 or having your car painted like the dolphin puke mobile. My opinion is a brand name will add 'some' value to your Viper. The reason I say this is because most people do not like the sound of a stock Viper, and these people end up buying a system if one isn't already in place. Although, I doubt a custom exhaust would add any value, due to skepticism on the potential buyers part. I HAVE AN IDEA!!! Do what I did. Buy a brand name used system for about half the cost of new, and you will probably recoup most of that cost when you sell the Viper. Corsa is a great pick if your looking at resale as well. Not crazy loud, and eliminates the drone. You could probably find a used 2.5' for $600-$750. A 3' would probably be around the same $$$, but harder to find. Borla would be a good choice as well due to name recognition. I would think a nice stainless Corsa system on a Viper would add some value... Good Luck.

I recommend staying with a name brand. I had a custom system for a while and was displeased with the sound and non-mandrel bends.

Jim,

Just notice Jon B. (Partsrack) has a use 2.5 Corsa for sale - $549! Unless your planning some serious mods, the 2.5 Corsa will flow great!!! Especially with some high-flow cats. I'm using the 2.5 Corsa, and Sean Roe's high-flow cat setup. IT SOUNDS GREAT, and FLOW's.....

Good Luck

Another advantage to a name brand system is they have more resources and $$$ for R&D to engineer the system. They are considering sound, performance, and fit. I would spend the extra money and get a system that is proven. You may be disappointed with the custom setup and spend more re-doing it. I have a 99 RT/10 with a custom side-pipe exhaust and I re-did the setup three times before having it meet my satisfaction.

Just keep your stock exhaust after the upgrade. It may only be worth two bits now, but could be worth a mint to the next owner...

One day down the road I believe that any modification of any kind will make any Viper worth less than an unmodified Viper. Now, when the cars are fairly new, some folks will pay more for an "improved" Viper with non stock high performace add ons, but the day will come when these mods will reduce the value of the cars quite a bit. The Corvettes have experienced this for some time. Name a modified Corvette that is worth more than its stock brother. I'm not talking about some particular race car that won Sebring in the 60s, I mean things like body mods, engine mods, aftermarket wheels, even trick paint. After these cars get to the point where people don't hot rod with them anymore they will be looked at in a whole new light. Of course, this will only be true if they become classic. I think they will.

Randall,

1.) High flow cats WILL NOT give a check engine light. No cats will in certain years.

2.) I don't smell anything, and I've never heard anyone else complaining about smell from high-flow cats.

** I think your refering to Vipers with NO CATS. Maybe someone else can chime in and agree/disagree with my viewpoints...

By classic I mean like a 60s Vette. There were more of any year of 60s Vettes than all the Vipers ever made.
