On a 2006 srt-10 is it a waste of money to use K&N smoothe tubes with Green filters or just use Green filters with the stock air box(does it make much difference)?
Air filter change--is it a waste of money?

I have the S&B's in the stock airbox, couldn't tell the difference even with the butt dyno.

For the best bang for the buck put on the K & N Filtercharger Kit and change the included K & N filters to Green Filters. Yes, Green Filters does make a replacement filter to fit the K & N Filtercharger Kit. We stock both the K & N Filtercharger Kit and the Green Filters to fit the kit.

What is the Filtercharger Kit? I.e., what more is there to it than just the filters? If it includes some "cool" airbox, my understanding is that dyno comparisons have found aftermarket airboxes for the Gen 3 to be of negligible benefit.

A bit off topic but probably a good place to mention it -
By the way, I noticed that even though the airbox is not 100% sealed, I noticed that the car is getting most of its air from the scoop. The reason i know this is because i removed the baffle that deflects air so now when I wash the car i stick a rag in the scoop hole. Well i needed to move the car a bit and, and when doing so, it was stumbling and struggling to breathe. Sounded sickly.
I was surprised since I heard several times on the board that the car was getting most of the air from the engine bay. Definitely not the case.

I ran my car with NO air filter for a couple days and couldn't tell a seat of the pants difference. Low restriction? How about NO restriction! (clear sunny minimal dust days)

If you seal the K & N Filtercharger System ( Part # 57-1536 ), drill out the holes in it, and install Green Filters you will see some real ganes as now the system is tuned. Running without the air box is pulling in hot air from under the hood, and as any hot rodder knows, hot is bad and cold air is good. Removing the baffle in the air scoop with give you better performance as it blocks about a third of the hood scoop opening. Heavy rain has never been an issue on our test mule as there are holes in the bottom of the lower air box to let the rain drain out.
If anyone is in the area and is interested in our products they can test drive our test mule anytime.We stand behind our products and I do not know anyone else that will let you test drive a modified viper before turning over your hard earned cash.

Do a before and after on a dyno and put this all to rest. Also show the difference in the K&N and green filters on a stock intake, and the filtercharger; I prefer factual figures to seat of the pants.
You are 100% correct. a Viper needs a lot more than 14hp to be felt "at the seat of the pants"
I betcha my lunch those green filters are completely useless when compared to KNN...

Much ado about little.
If you are lucky, you will feel a crisper throttle with the K & N set up at freeway speeds. That's about all.
