When I set the alarm on my 94 RT/10, the horn chirp is barely audible. The horn is loud when you press it and when the alarm is set off. Is this normal?

You mean to tell me it did lock your doors at one point?? That would be a good trick considering the car does not have power door locks. If I am not mistaken it never locked the doors.

Like the others said, the faint honk of the horn is normal when setting the alarm. Why DC did this I will never know.

It's muted, but I'd rather have it this way than louder.

IEATVETS, If I remember the instructions, you can even turn this feature off?

I think you can disable the horn honk by pressing both buttons or something like that. Every car I have ever had did the fainter sound when "arming".

Mine never locked my doors either. When I 1st got my car, I posted here to make sure that was normal and everyone agreed the fob just arms the alarm. It doesnt lock or unlock the doors. If yours used to, its aftermarket

'94 service manual page 8Q-2:

1) remove left knee panel
2) locate dark green wire with molded end
3) turn IGN on
4) connect green wire to ground
5) press button on transmitter to set code. Second transmitter also has to be set at this time.
6) press LOCK then UNLOCK and repeat three times
7) remove ground
8) to reinstate horn, repeat 1-5

when i push the lock button it tries to move the locks, but it acts like it doesn't have enough power...when i bought the car it locked the doors...the previous owner never told me about this as an aftermarket part...but maybe it was...sad to see it doesn't work anymore!!

Ryan, in many cases the grease in door mechanisms (locks, power window motors, hinges, etc) get road dust in it and the effect is that it dries the grease and makes it putty-like. If you take off the inner door panel you can reach 100% of what might need cleaning. Good chance a hose down with an aerosol solvent will get it working again. If it does, you should get some new grease and reapply. Good luck.

Mine's just a chirp too. The guy I bought it from threw in a door lock kit...just gotta study the installation tips on this site and then tackle it one day.
