What is the best, cheapest, safest way to go from 500RWHP to 600RWHP. My current set-up on my Gen 1 is as follows:

Roe 6.5#
3" exhaust, no cats, stock exhaust manifolds
smooth tubes/filters

Current numbers are 504RWHP and 570RWTQ

I was thinking of moving to an 8 or 10# pulley, adding water/****, and some 1.7 RR's. Or should I put on a shot of Nitrous??

Just looking for ideas

Nos is the easiest BUT myself I like to have motor power 100% of the time so if it was me I'd go with a 10# pully, water/****, Rockers, headers (because with a blower the stock ones become pretty restrictive) and throttle bodies (these also get pretty restrictive with a blower)

Good luck.

Pulley and water/****. Cheap and reliable, plus the car will run cooler under boost.

I'd definitely go with a pulley, water/**** and a custom tune before anything. Even if you don't get 600, like stated above you will still benefit from it.

Anyone had any reliability issues running a 10# Roe? How may miles??

I am thinking RR's, 10# and water/**** with a good tune should be me fairly close to 600RWHP.

Getting rid of those stock exhaust manifolds would help a lot.

How about headers, pulley, and water/**** (and of course a tune)?

Anaconda,

Done quite a bit of research on headers, and have talked with several tuners also. The consensus is about 18-20RWHP in the upper RPM(4600-up) range, all for $1500. I can get RR, pulley, water/****, and still have enough left over to throw at the tune instead of the headers. It just seems like a lot of $$$ for a few extra HP. I generally shift at about 5100-5200rpm anyhow.

Only 18-20 on a BLOWN motor?

Headers may be expensive in comparison, but they will increase power throughout the entire power band. I'd rather have a nice flat torque curve, than seeking to achieve a high peak number.

By the way, why do you shift so low? Your car is continuing to make power for at least couple hundred more RPM.

I have a dyno graph from Sean showing a gen 1, 10#, stock exhaust manifolds and a gen 1, 10#, with headers. The curve is not that different between the two, with the header car making about 18-20 more peak rwhp.

Several have told me that the cam in the gen 1 is out of breath at that rpm range, totally different for a gen 2 car though. Sean shifts his gen 1 shop car at 5100rpm I believe.

I got about 18RWHP on my N/A car with jet hot coated headers so on a blown motor I would assume alot more.

Thanks everyone. I think I have settled on 8#, water ****, and a good tune.

Hey TOOOFST, doing just fine. Rackin up the miles on my car for sure. Next time everyone is heading out, give me a call on my cell. I have been doing a lot of solo miles, like it better when I can have some fun with other vipers!!

Marty,

Talk to Chuck Tator at Tator Dodge. He has installed MANY Roes. I'm sure he'll advise you to go the H2O/**** route because the engine will run cooler.

Go for it.

Thanks Pat,

I agree. I talked to Chuck before I bought the Roe, very very helpful. He really knows his Vipers!!!
