Amsoil motor oil or stick with Mobil 1?

I have a friend who can get me some Amsoil engine oils for the same price as I can get Mobil 1 from PepBoys or Walmart. Should I even consider Amsoil, or just stick with Mobil 1?

Based on my personal experiance with amsoil in my race car(a porsche) I would stick with the mobil 1

I used Amsoil in a D50 RAM truck and in 5K miles it varnished my motor. Heresay is that Amsoil is a wheat (as in cereal grain) based derivative. As with other vegetable based oils, it would probably make for a good furniture varnish!
