I researched Lifts for some time and before purchasing the Harding Steel Car Lift. For you mechanics, this is not the lift for you. It is a commercial solid platform parking lift with almost no access to the underside of the car. The advantages of its design and construction include NO CABLES to wear out and fail, which at best strands your car on top or at worst puts your car on top of you. It uses dual hydraulic cylinders and one hydraulic pump to do the lifting. The cantileevered design eliminates the two rear posts and the width is only 8' 2". This was key for me because I have a side-loading garage without a lot of room to "turn the corner" to pull in. The unit is %100 galvanized steel and is made to survive OUTDOORS for 25 years.

This one is interesting. Just curious as to how much $ and how much weight it hold?

Thanks for posting the pics 99. The lift is rated for 6000 lbs but was stress tested to 12,000 lbs without failure. Cost was 5K a year ago before the dollar plummeted. Also, I know my car is in dire need of washing but lately I've been too busy.

My only beef with cantilever/twin post/single post is the "feet" seem like they would get into the way of the doors on the car below. Having easy access to the car below is a huge advantage.

That is a valid point with many alternative lift designs. In the picture, the rear of my 500SL is approximatley 4' inside of the garage door. You can easily see that the car door will open fully with no issues even in this relatively forward position. The "Feet" are tapered towards the rear of the lift. If the Viper (which is lowered) is on the bottom, I would have to pull within 12 inches of the front wall of the garage in order to have the bottom of the door lower than the top of the "foot."

Here is another option for 4500 shipped. It has great undercarriage access but.... you can get two of Ab's for less than what I paid. The big plus is no posts to maneuver around.
