The Atlanta Region of the SCCA is hosting the American Road Race of Champions.
They have invited Viper Racing League Drivers & Cars. This is a First. All VRL cars will run in the ITO Class. I spoke with the Race Chairman he never mentioned that a SCCA Liscense was required. Viper Racing League Comp Liscense was good. This is an experiement with the Region. If you racers are not in VRL competition this weekend come on out.

Are you sure about the scca license not required? If you are running with other classes I am sure this is a requirement, get something in writting, to be sure. The ARRC is a monster event with 400+ cars & entries so it can & has been a logistical nightmare. I just wouldnt want anyone to come all the way down here & then get left out in the cold.

i spoke with the chair person. He informed me that this would be a first for the region. He never spoke of having a SCCA liscense to run this event. I explained that i had a vehicle that is a spec vehicle for the VRL & our tires were not DOT. They were slicks that are spec for the vehicle. He gave me clearance to race. I would still call the registrar at 770.455.7222

He may have given your car clearance, In fact there is a new class for the comp coupe & other speed WC prep vipers for the 2007 season. You can now run for a divisonal championship & soon national if participation is up. & no longer need to run with 900 hp GT1 cars in a catch all class.

I called HQ & asked , the scca requires a valid SCCA competition drivers license to compete in an scca sanctioned event. one time waivers MAY be available, but are usually for FIA or other pro santioning bodies. They may grant you a license based on prior experiance or other licenses, when I got my SCCA license 12 years ago, they used my vintage & pca comp license as my school, I had to take a written test onflags & **** I got my comp license.

I WOULD NOT OPERATE ON THE ASUMPTION THAT YOU CAN RUN WITHOUT AN SCCA LICENSE beacause someone told you you could. Get in in writting from the SOM.
