Another exhaust question

I had the corsa track exhaust system installed by Woodhouse dodge. The problem is that the side sills are still very hot and the center console is too hot to touch in the summer. (I live in Florida)
I thought about installing the random tech hish flow cats with the bend to eliminate the secondary cats but after hearing so many stories about breakage I am hesitant.
I was wondering if a just a replacement secondary cat would help. I see them on Jon B's web site. I also want to know if the Corsa Track exhaust already replaces these or not? Also, an installer recommended wrapping the exhaust and transmission tunnel with insulation . And finally what size do I need 2.5 inch or 3 inch. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Braceviper: I have the track exhaust with the 2.5" connection; I tried using the insulation used for this purpose and found the conditions worse. The insulation around the exhaust will retain heat and therefore does not dissipate while the car is moving. I did finally put the insulation above the box (Cats) and the foot well bend. I found this helps considerably. I live in S. Florida and have not found the sills to get exceedingly hot. You might want to ensure that the Corsa exhaust tips are not touching the sill outlet lip. As you know they grow backwards when hot.

Have no problems with the high-flow cats added to the Corsa Track Exhaust. VERY important, as Art138 stated, the tips MUST BE TACKED so they do NOT touch the sills/paint on sides....the tips WILL move/expand/contract with the heat. We don't have trouble with as much heat as before the exhaust/high-flow cats were put in, but yeah, there's still some heat. Did not go with the insulation. Being you are in Florida, that would probably be a good thing to do, I'd think...you have much more heat/humidity than we do here in Albany, NY. Just take the secondary cat out all together and replace it with 2.5" pipe. It will help with the heat, it will not cause any problems and will only be a hair louder than it is now.

Or get the Random Techs and install the poly urathane mounts so the exhaust doesn't have to flex so much, this helps big time with wheel hop issues as well.

Or get the Random Techs and have your installer reinforce the hanger area before installation, so the hangers don't tear off.

Some people even choose to leave the hanger mount out all together..I don't know how this works out with a Corsa Track but the B&B system is designed with out the forward hanger and it works great.

I did exactly what you stated above but also installed the competition coupe transmission mount too. This solved the problem of the RT cat hangers ripping holes in the pipes next to the hangers which I welded up after they tore loose. A lot less work than redoing the exhaust system. No problems in 7500 + miles.

As for the heat issue our Cockpit Heat Reduction Kit goes a long way to elimination the heat in the cabin of the viper. I have to tell you there is not much you can do about "Heat Soak" once the car is hot and has been parked for 15 minutes. When you get back in running your A/C will cool it right back down.

I also put in 3 cans of Sub Zero Refrigerant which really made a difference in the temperature of the air coming out of the A/C vents. The air is much cooler. Part number at NAPA is

I also installed PSA foam along the rear inside lip of the engine hood as hot engine air escapes here and goes into the heater vent. The factory only used foam in the center of the hood. I also used this same 1/2" x 1/2" foam to close up the passenger side hood vents as they also dump hot engine air into the heater vent. The factory has addressed these issues on the new 2008 viper hood.
