Symptom - wet passenger rug, even though door speaker grill seems dry. Use of heater or defroster after rain is fine when engine is cold, fogs up window as coolant comes up to temperature, then works fine again.
Situation - water is soaking heater core gaskets (foam rubber) and when saturated, drips down to passenger floor. Wet gasket is dried when hot coolant passes through, but before it is fully dry, moisture is blown onto window glass.
Solution - windshield sealer (a very runny version of a clear silicone glue) on the heater core sponge gaskets. You can see both gaskets with the hood up. They surround the heater core *******, just rearward of the blower motor plenum. Because of the windshield slope and frame, the rear-most gasket gets all the water that runs off the glass. When done, the gaskets will appear to be wet - the sealer is shiny when dry.
Comments - Yeeeee haaawwwww !!!!! We've got soaking rain in the northeast and after about 2 inches of rainfall, no fog, no drips, no puddles. Who says an RT isn't a daily driver?
