Hi Bob, I have a 96 GTS, The only differences I have heard about or noticed is the rims on the 96 may crack under track use, that was corrected for 97. The rims are polished a bit brighter on 97.Also has anyone noticed where you plug in your seatbelts there is no trim piece on lower side interior trim on the 96 to keep the belt clip from damaging this area? There may have been some camber changes on the rear alignment as well. Sell that ZO6 and join the in crowd!!!...AL...00PROWLER...

This was covered in a recall for early production GTSs. This recall also covered oil pans with residual casting flash in the pickup tube - but was limited to vehicles up thru about VIN #90 or so. Mine is #98 and wasn't subject.

Early 1997's still had the cast wheels.

1996 GTS's for some unknown reason has a different windshield frame and of course the stripes go through the rear license plate depression.

For all practical purposes though, identical cars.
