Took a look at this car while visiting family out in California(and meeting with the guys at Celia's). The car was kinda trashed for only having 10K. Had been repainted(probably due to wreck). Drivers door cracked, but what intrigued me was the "protective coating" that was put on the bottom of the car. From the front bumper to the back. As I looked at it, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Rhino liner! Oh, and the back pipes looked like they came off a 96 camaro. Check it out, http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=98407780&dealer_id=76514&certified=n&max_price=&start_year=1996&end_year=1998&address=36330&search_type=used&make=DODGE& model=VIPER&min_price=&distance=any&advcd_on=n&advanced=n&first_record=51&=&color=&car_year=1997&ac_afflt=none

I just got paid so I'll send him an offer of $327.44 and see if he bites. Of course its a "serious bid" if I can drive it home for that price I'd happy to tell everyone where I bought it at.

I believe the Gen II RT's did not get the NACA duct and air vent hoods until 98......Kurt

I saw a 97 blue RT/10 for 55K last week and this one for 44K what gives on such a spread? I have a 97 that I plan to sell after Nashville event (have SRT certificate) was hoping for 50-55k range am I dreaming?

Yes, yes you are. J/K, this particular car was repainted "probrbly" due to a wreck and the bottom is Rhino coated. That being said, loss of value of about 5-9K depending on the sucker that buys it. On a side note, it did have a proportioning valve on the rear brake line(front brakes?) with the part no. of AK 260-2222, does anybody know who makes this and does it help stop this car better?

Glad to see you made it back home OK. It was nice to meet you last week; thanks for visiting with all of us.

Like TacDoc said - I noticed that the hood is from a Gen. I (i.e. no vents), so there is most likely a long list of mad scientist alterations that aren't even mentioned.

MIKE BABY!

It was great meeting you (hi there Scott!) and driving around in the ACR even though we didn't open it up (we should have! next time).

Clearly nothing competes with your "company car" though..

Anyhow, it's so funny you posted this--Someone who lurked the board emailed me privately a week ago thinking he was going to buy this very vehicle!

He asked my advice, and I pointed out the nasty paint and warned him about the car..

He took my advice and bought a 2001(?) R/T from a dealer.

.

Todd bud,
Thanks for the drive, and next time I get out there(X-Mas) we'll open her up! Good that the guy went with the 2001, I would take the car if I could get it for under 30K. All that work that is needed to be done to bring it back to stock($10K), I wouldn't pay any more. Take care guys,

Mike

Hey Mike,

I think what you found there was a rare R/T 10 "Off-Road" Edition! That Rhino Liner is for those 4-wheelin' excursions at the track. Wonder what happens to the Rhino Liner when those side sills get really hot

Hey I remember that car now. Didn't I see it up against the Subaru in the Pikes Peak Uphill Rally? Its really good to know that our babies can destroy ricers even when off the beaten path.
