Archer\'s Championship Viper to be featured on TV show
ARCHER’S CHAMPIONSHIP-WINNING WORLD CHALLENGE VIPER TO BE FEATURED ON TV SHOW
Next week, the television show Popular Hotrodding will be filming a story on the No. 32 ViperSpeed Viper, owned by Illinois VCA member Ben Madey, that Bobby Archer drove to the 1999 Speedvision World Challenge GT Championship. The car, which was originally a red 1997 Viper GTS, was converted into a GT class race car by the ViperSpeed team in early 1998 and subsequently raced in the Speedvision World Challenge series by Archer in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Over the three years that the No. 32 ViperSpeed Viper was raced, numerous updates and improvements were made to the car, many of which should be highlighted in the television show. In addition to winning the 1999 World Challenge GT Championship, the No. 32 car won three GT races and has fifteen Top 5 finishes to its credit. The car was involved in a fairly severe accident in the final race of the 2000 World Challenge season and has been meticulously rebuilt by Archer and the ViperSpeed crew for return to its owner next month.
The Popular Hotrodding show featuring the championship-winning ViperSpeed Viper is scheduled for broadcast on TNN (The Nashville Network) on 3/30, 3/31, 5/11, 5/12, 10/12, and 10/13 (check local listings for broadcast times). More information on Archer and the history of the No. 32 ViperSpeed car can be found at www.viperspeed.com.
