Just took my air box off for the first time, and I noticed the flaps on the right side of the radiator shround. What's the purpose behind these? Has anyone ever removed them to see what the difference would be in cooling? They must be there for a good reason, and I ain't touchin'em unless I'm told to from someone who's experimented with it. Thanks !!

JH23,
Those flaps are there to force more air through the area of the radiator directly in front of the cooling fan at idle.

The idea is that at idle the flaps are laying flat/closed and this improves the air flow, by blocking "dead" area that the fan can't pull air through.

While you are driving at speed the flaps are opened by the force/velocity of the air flowing through front fascia, utilizing the entire radiator.
