I saw the last period of ALMS on Speed Channel yesterday, and Chevy won 1-2 on GTS class, 3rd was a Ferrari Maranello. Where were the Vipers?

Where are the Vipers in ALMS?They were legislated out. They were given smaller intake restrictors, more weight and smaller brakes compared to previous years. They are no longer competetive and most cannot be bothered to race them under current rules. Bruce

There are Vipers racing in ALMS, just not factory sponsored ones.

I watched the 1st part of the ALMS race this morning and saw one of them hit the tire barrier HARD before I had to leave for work.

Man, looking at that picture you really get a feel for how restricted these cars are. If only a little air is getting in, all the mods in the world aren't going to help. I feel for those guys. The thing that really ***** is that the Viper is only so uncompetitive because they were so far ahead of all the others that they were regulated to the back of the pack. Despite this, Oreca managed to overcome, but only because they had their car and drivers working perfectly. I hate to say it but the C5's were faster all year, GM just didn't have them sorted out in time.

It ***** that GM gets concessions like being able to run a non-production 427cid motor and the Vipers are not only running factory displacement, they are *severely* restricted with air restrictors, brake restrictions, and weight additions. Whats the point of running in ALMS if you are fighting with two hands tied behind your back?

When Dodge re-enters ALMS (hopefully) with the new Vipers, GM will have been dealing with penalties, and the Vipers (hopefully) should clean the track with the pesky Vettes.

Hmmm, that all made sense... Thanks for all the info. I guess they had to do that to level out the field, or to keep the Vipers from winning

Good luck to all the Vipers still competing.
