Alan M :

The vette cross overs wanted a smoother running car and less power.

So...Dodge made changes to the engine in the Viper to meet the needs of previous vette owners, interesting perspective. Guess I should have just saved money and bought a used car. Where were you when I was shopping, sheesh.

al, if i would have know about the creampuff condition
maybe i would have considered a used viper.
but i went into unknowning so.. i can't complain.
the only other viper I have driven was a GEN 1 1995 R/t 10 yellow.
Ironic i ended up with a 2001 yellow R/T so must be meant to
be!

I'm convinced the creampuff term was generated by frustrated Viper owners who wish they had a newer model with all the benefits. There are MANY '00 and "01 Vipers that have dyno'ed 420+ rwhp and can run in the 11's stock with a good driver.

And let's not forget that Paul Mumford WON the Viperdays finals at Hallet, OK in a 2000 "creampuff" by better than 2 seconds!!

I remember the term starting out as a tease by some of the lumpy cam owners, and it has evolved into a derisive comment. Personally you can call my car whatever you want, I wouldn't trade it for anything, especially a lumpy cammer! (But I would take one as a second Viper though!)

"Creampuff" was coined by Kid97GTS, I think he was tired of his lumpy ride and wanted the creaminess of a 2000+.

BTW, xqzyil the motor will come bad with the exact same parts and specs as a new 2000 motor. Instead of powdered metallic I believe you get stainles steel.
