Its been over a year since I sold my GTS, and my dad just pulled up to my house with a Black SRT-10. Its his car, and I will keep my M3, but I am going to drive it often and maybe help him mod it. My first impression is that it looks much better in person. I am still somewhat partial to the GTS lines, but it is still very eye catching. It also feels more more solid and effortless than the GTS on the road. With less than 40 miles, I didnt want to get on it too much.

My questions are what are some basic mods for the SRT? I had intake, exhaust, and 3.55 differential on my GTS and it felt pretty strong after that. I figure that's the same with the SRT? Any experiences are appreciated. Its good to be back behind the wheel again! Even if it is only occasionally.

As far as mods, I think you are on the right track. I haven't heard of production aftermarket intakes yet, just some "one-off's" from various vendors. I heard K&N had one pretty much ready to go, which many of us are excited about. Dan Cragin sells the gear sets (as does PartsRack and Woodhouse I would guess) and I think this is one of the best mods for the SRT in either a 3.45 or 3.54. The SRT has taller wheels and really hits the peak HP/TQ at the top of the gears.

There are some good threads on exhausts in this forum, but the consensus seems to be high flow cats (or eliminate one of the two on each side) and bullet mufflers. I think Cragin has come up with headers with HP gains of roughly 15-25 at the rear wheels. Not nearly what you will get on the pre-00 Gen II's. As more SRT'***** the roads, expect more aftermarket performance upgrades including superchargers, turbos, etc. Exciting times!

Chris

PS. Tell your dad he has GREAT taste in colors... ;)

Both TNT and RSI have header, exhaust, and intake (as well as heads) setups for the SRT, while RSI should have both Supercharged and Turbocharged options available soon if you want to go overboard :) .
