I am looking for the headers + exhaust combo that would give the most RWHP and RWTQ on my 05 SRT-10.
Some options I came accross are

-- Headers --
* Belanger Headers + Side pipe exhaust kit (3" complete system)
* B&B headers
* Borla Headers
* MOPAR Race Headers $5,799 damn, that's deep. http://mopar.com/m_perf_showpart.jsp?SubSubSubGrpID=660

-- Exhaust --
* Belanger 3" side pipe exhaust kit (comes with high flow cats)
* Corsa Track exhaust
* MOPAR Street Cat-back exhaust
* MOPAR Race Exhaust system (no cats)

I will go the forced induction path sooner or later. Either Supercharger or Twin Turbo. I don't want to go cat-less, it becomes to loud.

Is there any headers or exhaust for SRT-10 that I'm missing?
Which header and exhaust combo will give me the most HP and TQ?

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

If you are doing a supercharger sooner rather than later, then just stick with the stock set-up. The Paxton is tuned for the stock exhaust.

As for headers, whatever kind you get, make sure that when they are installed, that you shield all of the vulnerable wiring and lines from heat. Many people have melted lines and wires after installing headers.

Becuase of Kai telling me about all the heat problems burning up wiring I stayed away from the new headers and just did high flow cats and cat back! I heard the stock headers are very efficient anyways so theres no point!

I would disagree. The stock paxton tune is for a stock setup true. Headers and a retune would maximize the output of any forced induction system. You cramming more air in there ....its gotta come back out!

Check out the Corsa track system, it works well. $5799 headers...nah, not enough benefit/gain.
When you’re ready, Paxton is always an option. Some have been dialed 'em up to 850+fwhp.
Now that'll get you some kick.

I agree about the heat issue. Just look at the huge stock header heat shield. The aftermarket headers should be heat shielded and all the wires and stuff around them too.
There must be an improvement in the RWHP and RWTQ if the manufacturers are claiming the numbers they advertise. For example, Belanger is advertising that the headers and the side pipe kit gives +55 RWHP. That's huge for a headers + exhaust setup.
Has anybody dynoed their SRT-10's with and without headers and exhaust to verify these claimed numbers?

I am thinking of forging the short block with forged pistons, pro billet connecting rods and maybe a stroked crankshaft, using Stage III heads with oversized valves, double roller timing chain, upgraded rod, main and camshaft bearings, a Paxton supercharger with custom 10 rib and pulley setup, giving the head unit a nice wrap to prevent any slipping, #65 or #75 injectors, comp coupe oil pan and ported oil pump, Belanger headers and side pipe exhaust kit, triple carbon clutch, quaife 3.33 differential, heavy duty half shafts, moton shocks, etc.

So it won't be a out of the shelf Paxton car. I'm thinking of running around 12 lbs boost.

If the claimed +55 RWHP is real, then I want it :)

INSOMNIAC,

You are in Nor Cal. Do you ever get to So Cal? Let me know if you do, I'll give you a ride in my SRT-10.

Headers will make a big difference in you total hp. As you can see by my signature, after much research I went with the complete B&B system including the stepped headers and had it installed by West Coast Viper (So Cal). I gained about 40 rwhp with just the headers. No other header on the market comes close. I ran regularly against another Viper with the same set up as mine, except the headers, prior to my Paxton install and pulled him badly every time. The headers were the only difference.

I also had my new headers coated in and out prior to installation. No burnt wires or anything else burned up. The headers run cooler than the stock set up that you can call headers, but they're really a marginal tri-y tubular manifold.

Sills are cool even on very warm days. Call John at West Coast Viper and talk about this before you buy. And yes, you can have your car retuned for headers, heads, etc. They can do that too.

Good luck,

Dan

Dan,

I come down to Hermosa Beach to chill whenever I can find time. :)

I like your setup. You are running the West Coast Vipers Stage III heads, right? I bet those heads will gain you at least +50 RWHP if not more :2tu:

I don't like the B&B's. They look like short tube headers. And at your power level I bet the stepped headers are not doing any help. I want a full length long tube headers with 1 7/8 primaries and 3" collector pipes but I don't think there is anything like that for SRT-10's yet...

I would love to get a ride in your SRT-10. I will probably get a very similar setup to yours.

I have couple questions for you.
- What is your max boost? At what rpm do you reach it?
- Are you running stock 8 rib setup with stock Paxton bracket?
- How much boost does it make at 2,000 rpm, 3,000 rpm, 4,000 rpm?
- When does the Paxton start pulling hard?

I'll definitely give you a heads up when I come down there.
