I was wondering what the best year viper to buy is...

I am thinking the last year of forged pistons 1999

I want to twin turbo the stock motor

Were there any serrious changes for 01-02 that upgrades wouldnt get me?

Should i wait for the new GTS?

oh ya, what are the commone issues with these cars?

For example the c5 has a seat that rocks back, and fuel guages that go waco from the factory. Easily fixed, but nice to know up front so i dont freak out coming home from a new purchase

Uh, didn't you just ask this in previous post?

If you have raised your price up from $45K you might be able to get what you are wanting.

If you're in the market for an RT, definitely a 98 or 99! They have the good factoy motors(pistons and cams), but are late enough to have standard comforts of the GTS ie. AC, powerwindows...etc. 98's will have 17" (96 GTS)style wheels, and fog light covers...and the 99 will have the newer 18"'s and no fog light covers. The 99 shifter is diff. too, but that will go anyway. If you're GTS shopping, 96-99 will do. Hope that helps, you might be able to find a slightly higher mileage 98 in your range. Later

98.5 has factory headers that will respond to turbos better than earlier GenII cars with factory manifolds.

Not enough to make or break the deal obviously, something to consider.
96 and early 97 cast rims that could crack on high horse apps when pushed to the limits (slicks or heavy cornering).
All things considered I went with 97, mainly based on color.

My advice is always follow your color choice first, the rest can be modded to meet your specs for not too much $$$$$.

Good luck,

Only two years.

1998. Last of the Non-California certification, Forged Pistons, real cam with NGR....Last of the Real Vipers.

1999 is second choice.

2000 and on.....Cream Puffs.....Corvette owners seem to like them.
