Whoa, not sure what happened ,but with rain at Mosport it appears the SnakeCoupes slithered to some terrific finishes.Archer was going great guns and had leapt up into 4th , but alas, he was in the great hornswaggle ( erudite term for racing mishap that happened , but I have absotuteleee no details )and moved way on back. Da McCann boys made N. Canton, Ohioites proud with 2 top 10 spots, with Mike gathering the bronze - hurrah!! The rain seemed spotty on the reports, but it obviously was the contributing factor, especially since only around 3 seconds seperated the top 9 for much of the race. With slipping, some CC's were sliding forward and it ended a strong day for the SRT Team players.

Tommorrow is race two, and one wonders if it can match the surprising finish of today?!

Mike McCann 3rd
Tim Wiens 4th
Jim McCann 7th
Bob Woodhouse 8th
Mike Hartley 9th

Way to go Mikey in the GTS ( same one he ran GT-1 in Viper Days )

Maybe the better header should read........"Viper Days Racers Place 4 Snakes in the top 10!!"

Just realized that both McCanns, Woodhouse, and Hartley are all Viper Days alumni. Looks to me like a damn good feeder program, ifen I say so myself.

I read it the way Janni does. Makes sense the Audi's would take 1 and 2 in rain. Nice work by Archer again to garner 3rd in wet weather (I'm taking Bill's word on the weather report).

Just goes to show how accurate timing and scoring can be. The beauty of SCCA's World Challenge Series and it's association with the Speed Channel, is that the website has live timing and scoring. During the race you can pull up the site and see what is happening lap to lap. Right when you expected that there could be some concerns with the rain ( especially with the top 9 cars only 3 seconds apart in the wet ) , bingo the whole field shuffles and out comes the checkered and the top runners were all relagated to around 11-19th. They all showed only 28 laps. Of course I could find nothing else out, except to stare at a computer screen that showed Archer , Galati , etc mired two laps down and it appeared there must have been a big boo boo up front with the leaders scattered all over the track. The big boo boo was just mine in believing the timing and scoring was on top of things. Those of us that run SCCA are pretty amazed at how well the volunteers do in keeping track of all our placings, and with the new computer systems and on-car timers mistakes are rare. Seems this was the case of a error, and I have no cause, but it stayed up as the finishing order for well over 10 minutes , so I deemed it good enough to print. Oh, well, their were 5 Vipers in the top 11 on Sunday, so I came close to clarvoiyance.

Yep, da biggest boo boo was mine.

Great place to go if you can't get the race on TV-- just go into live timing and scoring during the race.

"watched" live timing and scoring Sunday - missed it Saturday.... Sometimes it can be flaky....

You get a pass on this one - you're old. ;)
