I see in the classifieds, that there is a 95 black viper for 28,000. They say there is a noise in the engine. Does anyone know more about this car? I am looking for my first viper. I want a 94-95 and for under 30k. Should I say away from this one?

If your looking for your first snake, don't buy one with engine troubles! I believe it has rod knock and bad caps (?)

For 30K, just watch the early RT's for higher milage stuff.

I agree with MadMaxx. You should be able to purchase some older Vipers ('93 or '94) for about $30,000 within the next few months.

Unless you're talkin 60-70k + mileage vipers, you're dreamin! RT/10's go up slightly during summer, but if you do find one for 30, or even low 30's that runs/drives right, buy it! In my nearly 6 month nationwide search for the right viper, the two cheapest I ran across that ran/drove right were for 34k. Both sold within the first week of advertisement.

I watched a green (my fav of all the gen1s) go for 34 the other day!

Maybe he'll get lucky, or find one that has a salvage title that is strait.

Let me restate my statement ... Vipers will be purchased for $30,000 by the end of this year (when about 2,500 SRT owners start dumping their used Vipers on the market). As the post from "eng12" indicates, prices on older Vipers are already approaching $30,000. They will only go lower when the SRT comes out.

yeah? until everyone realizes what the SRT ACTUALLY is and then all the people that are in love with the current model will ****** them up, they will become harder to find, and prices will rise again.

I watch the market diligently and I agree with MM, the price of RTs are already dropping like bricks (reserve on Ebay today set at 31 and AutoT had two for 29k last week.) I don't expect them to hit vette bottom, but, with a little patience, you should have an engine trouble-free car in your garage by Thanksgiving for the price you're seeking. Of course come Dec 26th the market will skyrocket again because I'll be ready to buy....

There was a yellow one last week out of Missori for $29900. I called the number listed but never got through (no answering machine either. The ad has since been dropped (I concede it could have been a fraud.)

Bill - Are you selling it for $32k or is that how much you paid?
