As suggested by BAZ on the forum, I removed the rear muffler from my Borla cat back system. It was a royal PIA getting it off but the new exahust note (deeper and slightly louder) is delectable. Definitely louder but not obnoxiously loud. More bubbling during decleration. Looking back I should have got the older Borla system without the rear mufflers.

The big issue right now is that one of exhaust tip is touching the top portion of the rear valance. Will this cause damage to paint and plastic? I presume so after while. The shop tried everything but just couldn't get the tips to not touch the top valence. Does anyone have any suggestions on lining up Borla tips? I was thinking about adding some spacers to the rear mouting brackets so that there it does not pull up as high.

Thanks in advance!!

Sbkim,

Yes it will damage it you need to make them not touch.

Here is how I did it at my friends muffler shop with his guidence.

Broom stick(seriously) stick it in the pipe and push down, it is metal and will flex with enough force. After about 5 min of tweaking here and there it came out perfect. That was almost 4 years ago now, and it is still perfect.

I have seen this done on many exhausts, you may need to get the back of the car up to get enough bend.

Good luck.

Take out those cats, you will really get a good sound then.

SB...yes, take those cats for a much better sound. Get some headers along with no cats if you want to scare the neighbors :2tu:

GOOD JOB :headbang: !!!!!!!!!
The mouting brackets at the rear of the car (Tail pipes) were adjustable on mine as they are not welded to the tips...
Just held the tips in place then done up the rear clamps...
All the best

Russ M - Thanks for the reply, I will use little more elbow greae this time and see what happens.

Zx1100/TOOOFST - I am definitely considering both no cat and headers but concerned about passing emission in IL.

Baz - thanks bro! Now, I wish I had better looking tips like yours!

You could try cutting the straight pipe down half inch that should drop it a bit..
Also it will bring the tips inward towards th car more as well..
My tips came from Snakeoyl..
Glad you like it
