I was shocked too. Actually I think I paid $14.95. The Porsche parts manager was not to pleased to have a Viper parked by his parts window!

Yes. Make sure that they can rotate on the control arm if they take a hip from some road source. Plastic ties will allow for this. If not, your control arm may get damaged.

Do a search for installation pictures. Basic items wrap the A-arms with Teflon or equivalent tape (to protect the coating on the A-arms), attach with plastic tie wraps.

You're not alone Ron. I got nailed too and they were the most useless mod I ever did. They're in the garbage now and I'm using 3" X 34" air inlet hoses from Western Auto for $7 each.

Ditto what Chuck said. Last time at the track I melted one pretty good so I took it off. Temp paint showed no difference after removing it.

They do have another purpose that most people are unaware of; they work great as emergency brakes in the unfortunate occasion you visit a sand trap. I couldn't believe how well they dug in.

Save your $$ and forget about them.

Thanks Joe, that's one I hope I never have to find out about!

Hey Ron, you disappoint me if, with all the racing you've been doing you haven't spent time at the beach or tagged a wall yet.

I remember what Danny Sullivan said "If you don't walk back to the pits with the steering wheel once in a while, they'll think you're not pushing it."

Chuck, there's no sand out here in Cali, all the runoff is dirt. I did go off last time out on turn 14 at Thunderhill, I guess that means I'm getting better

!

I had unknowingly volunteered to test the deceleration potential of the sand off turn 3 at Gingerman. Luckily the test was designed such that a professional photographer was positioned right near the oak tree for a perfect perspective. After reviewing the high speed film of the event, we concluded that the sand did offer a deceleration from 85 MPH to zero quicker than my car on asphalt.

How did I unknowingly volunteer you ask? Seems my coolant reservoir bottle decided to mate with a bolt and the result was a wet embrace of my front right tire.

Joe, lets see the picture.......

There are a series of 8, I only have the first 4 leading up to the sand. Note the debris already on the bra from turn 3 on the last lap, which provoked the relationship between my bottle and the bolt.

Yep, tires now provide a nice relaxing vibration.

I got them for a little over $11 each. I think I might have gotten a PCA discount though. Remember these didn't include the aluminum brackets. I bought those separately for around $25 each.

Limited finances have cut deeply into my racing program this year (subliminal plee for sponsorship). I'm forced to stay close to home (subliminal plee for sponsorship) and race at Sebring, Moroso, Homestead. So far, I've only attended one Viper Days this year (subliminal plee for sponsorship) at The House of Woodhouse (shameless plug) Mid America Motorplex (shameless plug) and will be unable to attend (subliminal plee for sponsorship) VIR.

I always look forward to racing the #34 Babel Motorsports Dodge Viper (shameless plug) in the Michelin Challenge Series (shameless plug) Viper Days (shameless plug) events. Meeting all the Viper Club Members (shameless plug) and enjoying a Coke (shameless plug) is always a highlight of the Skip Thomas (**** up) organized events.
