i had a new clutch and light weight fly wheel installed a few days ago..

car went great the first 200 miles and then yesterday I noticed the clutch pedal was a lil light..today it just wouldnt go into gear..

I checked the dot3 brake fluid level and saw that it was low..i am not very mechanically inclined but if i remember correctly your clutch and brakes share the same fluid reservoir right???

So I added more dot3 fluid and pumped the brakes and it went light again and wouldnt go into gear..Added a lil more and she now feels back to normal and shifts correctly..

My question is..While i was adding more DOT3 ffuid i noticed this..

That lil rubber peice supposed to be in their..Or is it supposed to be connected to the cap??? Or not there at all???

i dont remember it being there?

Thanks for any help..

The rubber piece is supposed to be there. Its just for sealing the reservoir. Theres plenty of pressure when you push that clutch in. I found this out the hard way in my vette LOL. And your fluid looks clean.:)

Thanks for checking yours for me..

Well Ive been pumping the clutch and refilling the resorvoir and I think it is as full as it can be...

But the car will drive fine for a while and then suddenly the car wont go in gear..

i just did the new clutch and fly wheel 250 miles ago and this is some BS!

Guess Ill be going back to the dealership monday unless anyone else has any suggestions..

*It is of note that the car only has a problem going into gear after I have purposely pumped the clutch 10-15 times while driving to get the dot3 flowing*

The black rubber piece is a diaphragm and is supposed to be exactly where it is. Your clutch and brakes are both hydraulic systems, but they don't share fluid reservoirs. The one you filled in the video is the correct one. Sounds like you may need your system bled, or have a problem with the slave cylinder. Since you just had clutch work done at the dealer, that shouldn't be the case. Since your not inclined to do the work yourself, and the dealer just did the clutch work, I'd take it back there asap and have them make it right.

Best of luck!

Twister, one more point to add to the above post...03 Vipers use DOT 4 in boththe brake and clutch reservoirs.

Sadly, ALL of the clutch fluid caps say "DOT 3"...even on our 08.

Check your owner's manual.

I'd consider following Olddudesrule's suggestion for sure...flush/bleed the clutch. If you added any DOT 3 to your brake reservoir, you might want to change that back to DOT 4 in the near future.

I guess it's a cost issue to convert the caps. When you want to buy just a cap, it comes with a "free" reservoir, master cylinder, actuator arm, clutch position switch...

When the dealership installed your flywheel/clutch did he also attempt to bleed the clutch fluid. If the Gen3 system is anything like the Gen2, it can be Very difficult to bleed without letting air into the system through the valve. Cracking it open for a Very short burst and/or keeping your finger pressed over the hole acting as a one-way valve can help to keep air out of the system.
