Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I've now put more miles on my Viper than any other car I've ever driven (went through a lot of college beaters), exceeding the ~46.5k I had on my 99 Mustang GT. I now have ~51,666 on the Viper (got it with 4,800 on it)!

That's awesome.

So how would you rate the reliability factor? Other than mods and routine maintenance, did you have any heavy repair bills?

My reliability has been...fair, probably worse than average for people with these cars. I didn't have heavy repair bills because I have a 100k mile extended warranty (max care, $0 deductible, 7 year), but would have spent a lot of $ if I hadn't, for repairs including:

- 2 transmissions so far (changed the clutch and flywheel at 42k miles when the 2nd tranny was being changed - they were worn, but not gone)
- air conditioning compressor (and maybe some associated components?)
- each windows' up/down mechanisms (one replaced, one repaired)
- front and rear hard top latches have gone out (STILL trying to get rear latches work finished)
- oil gaskets went out
- soft top replaced (issues with latches and wear on material - covered under original warranty) - had to replace twice, because the original replacement had a crack in the front bar

Other than the trannies, nothing stopped me from driving, just were inconveniences until fixed. Routine maintenance has been fairly pricey, between the frequent fluid changes (now change my own oil on it, but the oil and filter are expensive enough) and the tires (lucky to get 20k out of the rears and 30k out of the fronts, and that's if they don't get unrepairable punctures from nails, which I've had).

I think I get about 8K out of an average set of tires! You are doing great as far as I'm concerned!

Not on the Viper, but my previous car was a '94 Mustang GT and I racked up 175K miles before I let her go. The only major repair was replacing the manual transmission. I have to add that I only changed the clutch once around 150K. She took a licked...but kept on ticken.

I just went over 50K during the Thanksgiving weekend at Daytona(annual Turkey Run). Got a chance to make new "viper" friends and generally have a great time. Did incur dings from the drive(over 800 miles in just four days), screw in tire, headlamp switch go bad. But ya know what? The problems I had were way out of the norm, 99% of the time, zero problems. Still got home safe and sound with NO moving violations :2tu: :2tu: , only by scheer luck!

Mustangs don't count Gheijos. Join Joe at the back of the line.

Slaughter, I'm afraid there's a little sweetie in New Orleans that has us both smoked and a two Viper owner at that! She was more than happy to boast these numbers to me...

00 GTS purchased July 8, 2000, 4 miles on the odometer, 75,653 miles as of Nov 03.

04 SRT10 purchased new 10/31/03, 3,629 miles as of today.

Sweet Mary passed you a while ago and is charging fast to the Chuckster. Dunno how long I'll be able to hold out. Gotta figure out a way to drive two Vipers at once.

Nice Slaughter, your tire mileage beats my one day toasting of brand new Kumhos in two tanks of gas, that was interesting...

Dates? Port of departure? Place(s) visited? Not an alternative lifestyle cruise? :D

Mary doesn't post. She says she doesn't know how but I think it's one of those "damsel in distress" tactics commonly used amongst **** blondes.

Rumor is Mary took off for Atlanta for Thanksgiving and is well into the 4,000 mile range and she hasn't had the car even two months yet. At an eternal age of 39, this is one adorable Southern belle who will drive past all of us in the miles per month Derby. You go girl!!!

I drive 214 miles per day to work so I have an unfair advantage, but the most I've personally put on a single car (non-viper) was ~89k. I currently logged in 72k on my Sol, and 15k (or just over 41 miles per day) on my first year with the snake.
