I just got done following JonB's instructions and it wasn't too bad of a job to do! My overflow tank was empty. I first turned the heat to the hot position and then squeazed the LF radiator hose to get all the air out but I didn't have to fill any coolant in the surge tank. I then filled the overflow bottle. I couldn't see how full the d@mn thing was though so I had to use the tap test on the bottle to determine where the coolant level was. I filled it to the top of the neck of the bottle(where the overflow bottle indents in like an hour glass). There's got to be a better way to see where the coolant level is because I can't even see it in the surge tank either.

I'm hoping that there is nothing else wrong though because my overflow bottle was empty, my surge tank was full, and even after I burped the line I never had to fill any coolant into the surge tank.

Thanks Ulysses for sending me to JonB's instruction page and thanks JonB for the instruction page!!!

A local garage is offering a coolant replacement that
is done by vacuum. Is this a safe method ?
For $45 including a 50/50 antifreeze refill, it doesn't
seem like such a bad deal.

Matt, we use a cheap penlight with an eight inch long flex-stalk and put the light right along the bottle in the front fascia. This gives a nice translumination effect, so that I can see the level through the slit as recommended (AFTER I CLEAN the viewing slit!!!).

Hey Steve-

I had a regular flashlight inside the front facia to see the coolant level and still couldn't see it! Like I said, I even had the flashlight on the surge tank and can't tell where the level is unless I look inside the tank. They must've made my plastic containers extra thick compared to everyone else's.

There is a slit in the wheel well that lets you see the tank inside the front bumper cover. You can use the flashlight to illuminate the tank and look in the passengar side wheel well to see the level through the slit. You have to have your wheel turned to see it.
