do vipers run well on Cam 2 race fuel? locally sunoco has 94 octane, is there anything better to be used when racing?

I used Cam2 in a stock car. I think I must have had 12:1 compression, never a knock.
I don't see why you couldn't use it in your Viper. Ten years ago it was $3.50/gallon.
The Cam2 I used was loaded with lead. If you have cats or O2 sensors that will be a problem.

The extra octane is worthless in a stock Viper whether racing or not. Beyond that, unless the CAM2 is unleaded as mentioned you'll toast your cats.

If the Viper had a knock sensor and you were experiencing knock, the octane would help a bit as more advance could be dialed in, but we don't.

Of course, if you super / turbo charged the engine, the octane could help depending on the boost and advance curve.

Save your money....

Stock vipers have relatively low compression and run low chamber pressures. Higher compression, NOS and SC engines can use the higher octane to their advantage.

I don't know. Like I said, the LT1 in my 96 Vette has 10.1 and it has an iron block with aluminum heads. The Viper, of course, is all aluminum.

The LT1 and Viper are both similar in hp/cube. Vette has .86 hp/inch, the Viper has .82 hp/inch, at least for my gen1. If the gen1 got .86 that would be 420 hp.

I don't know how much the .5 more would make for the Viper I would say it might be worth 20 hp but that's just a guess.

Perhaps they were worried about the extra heat.

I think they now might have some kind of unleaded Cam2 but if they don't, you better think about your O2 sensor even if your cats are gone.

About the value of high octane fuel, it will only help you if your knock sensor is backing off on your spark advance because the 94 pump gas is causing knock under heavy load. With a stock engine, I don't think that will happen.

If you had increased compression, say 11:1 or 12:1, then you could gain by running high octane gas. The more you compress the charge, the more power you get. Of course, in the case of those high numbers, you would be required to run the high octane gas.

If you put Cam2 in a car that doesn't need it, you get no gain.

The higher the compression the greater the chance of predetenation (knock)! Low compression, low chance of predetenation. Other conditions also become factors, such as engine temp, ambient air temp and humidity. So I believe there could be a benefit to 94 octane in a stock engine depending on conditions (ex. Viper Days, drag events and hard driving on very hot days).
